Mede8erRemote app for Android phone
« on: February 16, 2011, 07:42:47 PM »
Hello,

I've created an app for Android phone, the app allows you to use your phone as remote.  It's based on the HTTP remote embedded in the mede8er.

Before using the remote you need to set the IP address of your mede8er.  This is my first app ever, so don't except too much of it :-).  I runs on my Samsung Galaxy 3 phone but should run on any Android 2.1 phone. The app does not support landscape mode..

Below is the app.

ps: i've upload the app as .jpg extension (.apk is not allow, so you need to rename the file)

Now you need to get an Android PAD which can display all the Movie Folder images to select what to play and you can make the Ipad owners sick with envy.

if the mede8er developers would provide an API for that,  it would be easy to create app with that kind of functionality..

Looks like you'll have to extend the API and keep him busy!  You could use the touch screen to move through the movies folder images and select which one to play. I was thinking with the images on the phone, not the TV.

I think they should move this to the offical Software Downloads section so more people find it!

The normal procedure is to publish the application to the Android market.  That way everybody can find the app via the Market app installed on the phone.

I don't know the details (technical, financial, geographical, ..) about publishing apps but there's a registration fee of $25 before you can post an app.

The issue is that posts in these sections of the forum drift off the current pages and into oblivion over time. Some sections don't change as they are less for discussion, and more for fixed information. Those include the Software Downloads and Tips section. So with the arriival of the remote interface they could add a  whole new section of software apps to the primary sticky list, and link  that to  your post in that section.

Great job cuball!

I just have the problem that pressing a button on the app-remote is like pressing that button 3 times. E.g. pressing "left" or "right" in the menu will move 3 icons to the left or right. Same with "enter" or any other button.

Maybe this is specific to my phone since I am the only one here having this problem. I am running your App on a Nexus One with Froyo 2.2.2 (official firmware).

Would be great if you could help me!

Thanx

I am running on Samsung Galaxy S with 2.2.1 official Samsung release. Don't have this issue. It is running very smooth and responding better then the standard web interface.
