Hi
Just bought the Mede8er 300x the other day.  Have been happy with it but it seems like there is a problem.  Everytime I turn it on and start looking through the folders to choose something to play the Mede8er zooms in and then turns off and says "searching for signal"  It does this over and over again.  I have updated the firmware to the latest release and am using a LG 2TB external hard drive.  Connected to the unit through the HDMI cable.  I remember reading on the forum somewhere that this had happened to someone before.  Please help

Hi Stoodge

From your IP it looks like you are based in France and BUT we have not yet released the MED300X in Europe so I am wondering if you may have mixed up the model number ? Maybe you you purchased the unit in another country ?? Pls clarify.

I have pretty much exactly the same problem. I bought a 300x with no internal drive and it does as described. During browsing the screen zooms in on the top left corner and then does nothing. On the next key press the unit reboots but doesn't show the logo it goes straight to the root menu. I'm using 3 different drives and it has done it with all three individually and in combination (1.5TB Seagate, 2TB Seagate, 16GB Flash). I have chkdsk'd all the drives and upgraded the FW to the latest version. This has not happened during playback. I've tried cancelling the scan for media files before browsing but it made no difference.

It looks like the Database files on the HDD's are corrupted so pls delete these and let the MED300X re scan your drives one by one -- DO NOT UNPLUG THE DRIVE DURING THE SCAN PROCESS

To delete just connect the drives to your PC and delete the folder named ".Theater" in the root of the HDD

Sweetly. Thank you. I will try that as soon as I get home and report back in case anyone else experiences this issue.

If the above is correct does that mean that each time the Mede8er is turned off and it has to rescan the external drive that we have to delete the ".Theatre" folder? Thanks for replies

The first time you connect a HDD to a MED200X / MED300X it will perform a scan of the media files in order to build a Database for the built in Search and Sort fuctionality. The first scan will take longer as it needs to scan all the media files on the Hard Drive and new scans will take a lot less time as Mede8er will only look for changes on the drive. The issue is that your Database probally got corrupted due to unplugging or powering down during a scan process. You do not need to delete the Database under normal use and only in the event that it gets corrupted.

I only managed to do one drive but deleting the .Theatre folder seems to have done the trick. Thanks Mede8er1! Grin

Last night i deleted the theatre file and then tried to do a scan.  The only problem is that the scan takes so long that the mede8er goes into sleep mode and then stops scanning.  Any suggestions

Did you delete the .Theatre folder already and enable scan after that again after a reboot?
What firmware version are your running? Please post the used firmware revision number.
