All,

Some update on the V4 progression:

Mede8er devs are making good progress and all SDK bugs have been adressed one by one and now we are in a good position to move forward on the last internal debug stage. We will not give a timeline but it is weeks and not months.

regards,

SDK Bugs? Sounds like Sanji are having to spend as much time fixing realteks code as their own!

This is old news. They reported in October that the latest SDK had bugs and Realtek had to fix them.

Nevertheless, it's good news that a final V4 should be with us in a few weeks (and if not months then I can only presume it will be within the next month) ;-)

mmmm..... I think 7 weeks could be less than "months" (8 weeks)  Undecided

 Grin Good news.

I am happy with v3.05, but the only drawback is that it has no support for MKV header compression.
V4 has support for header compression so that is a major improvement, also the new GUI ( videowall 3 levels deep ).
Hope that the new SDK from Realtek has fixed the bugs with almost all problems with the audio.

If that is the case i am a happy camper  Wink

If the unofficial and kind of unreleased v4beta6 is nearly the same as the final version of v4 then i have to admit, NICE work!

Which makes the news even worse! It sounds like realtek can't accept this SDK release is a lemon and needs a close look at. Instead the tone of Massbommels post is that OEM's like  Sanji have to prove there is a bug before realtek will fix it, one by one!

If there only was some advancement in the NTFS driver bug...

In This post There is a easy to reproduce test case.  I has someone test this on the xtreamer pro and it had the same problem, so it definitly is a SDK bug from the ntfs driver supplier .

And data corruption should be VERY high on the list of any developer. A hang is easy to recover form (power of/power onn), but data corruption might cause you to do a hour taking complete resinstall (if there is a backup).  Any device calling itself (barely) a NAS should be able to safe files without dataq corruption.

@ maasbommel, why not add it to the beta 4 bug list?  (or call it "support native ext3 partition" since that is a good workarround)

I am very pleased with my med500x (I bought it a year ago), BUT the NFTS corruption problem with I encounter very often, is the only real issue which makes me want to sell the med500x and go the Dune way (Smart series, H1 or D1)...
