Product & firmware version: Mede8er MED500X FW v3.0.5
Audio setting: HDMI Downmix / Night mode OFF
Video: HDMI output > Sony KDW 40W4000
Video setting: 1080p 60Hz,24Hz OFF,16:9
Media Source: Wired Network > Windows XP SP3
Hard Drive: 1.5TB (rest unknown: got it as a present)

From one day to another all pictures and video's appear garbled on my TV. Sound is OK. But image/video is full of vertical stripes and purple, blue, pink colors. Doesn't matter if I play from HD or from my PC. Have tried another HDMI cable but no change. Installed latest firmware but no change.

I suspect it's a HW issue and I have to return it and get a new one but who knows.....maybe I've missed something (could find nothing related on the forums).

How long has it worked without issues?
Is your mede8er placed so it can ventilated (not in a closed cabinet and not on top of some other equipment that is generating a lot of heat?

And is it hard, or intermittend?

Got it the 17th of december and installed it the next day. Worked since then until today.
Mede8er is placed in an open cabinet, not other equipment nearby but lately with the right side (where the USB socket is) against the cabinet wall.

And what do you mean with hard or intermittend?

So when did it stop working and become garbled?

It is continuous. So, all the time.

And it started today. Watched a video just Thursday and today wanted to do that again and it was all garbled.
Did nothing with the mede8er between Thursday and today.

I would try it on another tv if possible, try other hdmi port on your TV to be sure its not the incoming hdmi port on your TV.
You already reloaded the fw to check if it was not some fw corruption.

Reading your comments my best guess is that some hardware is broken.....

I have seen this kind of symptom once here on the forum, but cannot find the post.
He had only this issue when playing HD movies, not with SD DVD movies.

Finally it seemed to be some defect on the mede8er mainboard and after he had it exchanged/repaired his problems were gone.

Thanks for the info. Will try the mede8er on another TV (already tried it on other HDMI ports on my TV). If the problem persists I'll send it back, if not it could be my TV that is the culprit  Sad
