Girlfriend got me a 300X for Christmas - I know, she's great, aint she Sadly, my 300X bombs out regulary and by this I mean, switches off while I'm either going through files or perhaps viewing pics. I hear a loud click via my home threatre system, image on the TV goes blank for couple of seconds, then it starts searching for signals and puts me right back to media library. Since i do not have an internal harddrive yet, it starts the scanning process of the external harddrives all over again - pretty frustrating stuff, not to mention my girlfriends dismay at this 'perfect' Christmas gift (I really really wanted one). Oh, it never bombs out while watching a movie tho Upgraded to V1.3 which I'd hope which solve the problem but sadly has not BTW -my sister has the same set up as mine and has had NO issues Any idea's -taking back anything to HI-FI corp for repairs is a nightmare Thanks Mountainboy

If you sisters unit is running fine, you might consider to connect your external usb drive to that unit to verify its not related to the usb disk.

Hi mountainboy,
Hope there is a solution to your problem as I've experienced similar (also purchased from hi-fi corp a MED300 model) just returned it for a replacement (within 14 days so no issues) but still have same problems as follows:
Mine has the built in 1TB harddrive and will only list and play files under "Media Library". Shows no files found under Movies or Photos pages even though they exist and are readable via Media Library. If I hit enter while in Movies or Photos pages then the unit suddenly enlarges the on-screen display showing approx 20% of original graphic then makes a strange sound and re-boots itself. Tried auto and manually scanning but doesn't seem to work. Am wondering if there is a folder depth or naming convention that needs to be adhered to as my files are 3 folders deep and have read other issues relating to this on MED500 forum?
Cheers Carl 2

Hi Carl,
Did you format the internal disk from Mede8er menu or did you format it with a pc? Was the HDD also swapped together with the Med300X or is it transfered to the swapped unit?
Which Brand and Type of disk do you have installed?

Hi Maasbommel,
The HDD is a 1TB SEAGATE pre-installed by Mede8er South Africa (already installed when purchased). I formatted via Mede8er (NTFS) and then transferred files using USB connection cable to my Windows PC. As mentioned previously all folders and files show in Media Library but nothing shows under the individual Music, Photo, Video pages. If files run from Media Library they run OK but any "enter" command in other pages causes re-boot. Auto scan does not seem to run on startup or any other time? Is there a specific folder depth or naming convention that must be adhered to for files to be recognised by scan?
Thanks for any help . . .
Cheers

Sorry forgot to answer one of your previous questions . . .
HDD is new (swapped together with NEW MED300) not transferred, so don't think it is a 2nd faulty drive??
Cheers

I had this problem before and was able to fix it by deleting the file .theater folder in the root directory of the internal HDD and re-install the latest FW. I also changed the video settings to 1080P 60Hz. Fixed it that way but Im not sure if it will work in your case.

Hi Lancito,
I suggest to try the suggestion Lancito has given. The .theater folder holds the scanned dbase info, so when you remove it, it should rescan and rebuild after that.
Connect your mede8er to your pc by usb cable, remove the .theater folder, and then remove from usb and start your mede8er again. It will rebuilt the folder.

If you still have problems after that, please PM Mede8er1 and he will contact you to solve the issue.

Hi Maasbommel,
Deleting the .theater folder has helped. It now scans and shows results in Movie and Music pages but not Photo page and the unit still zooms into top left of page periodically then re-boots . . .
Thanks for your help so far.
Cheers
Carl

Hi Dulce
No will not lose any data as the update only updates the flash on the Mede8er.
