They may have changed the bootloader in the new firmware. The V4beta has the code to upgrade the bootloader from the previous version to the new version.

jer1956  you are correct. The v3.0.5 is based on the new code base and uses the Squashfs file system and Bootloader 17 does not support this and that is the reason why you need to install V4BETA5 first.
