Try to setup Virtual server in your router and point that to the ip of your Mede8er.

Hello @all.

I´ve the same problem. Downloading the stations does not work anymore. It has been working but now without any change it doesn´t. But I can listen to stations that are in my favourites.

I´ve done some analysis:

Nslookup from my pc:

C:\>nslookup www.shoutcast.com

Nicht autorisierende Antwort:
Name:    www.gwww.shoutcast.com
Address:  64.12.96.234
Aliases:  www.shoutcast.com

Probably there is a round robin A record in the DNS.
Second query delivers this:

Nicht autorisierende Antwort:
Name:    www.gwww.shoutcast.com
Address:  205.188.27.1
Aliases:  www.shoutcast.com

Both servers are not reachable via ping. (Not from my PC and not from mede8er)
Moreover I cannot connect to these server using "telnet <SERVER IP> 8000".

But the web page www.shoutcast.com is reachable with my web browser and I can listen to radio stations. (I do not have a active connection in parallel to www. shoutcast.com)

I do not have any active firewall and I activated the UPNP feature. Furthermore I made a restart of my router, switch and mede8er. I do not have any other connection problems with the med.

Pls Help

I set my Router port according to this guide.
But this gave no solution.

Is there a possibility to check the internal link in the linux kernel to what addres the ShoutCast application tries to connect?

Guys,

Please also post what Firmware release you are using to set the right base to compare things.
Give input about your network settings, how things are connected, how your network equipment is connected to each other to the Mede8er, Brand/type or router etc.

See the Tech Support Guidelines howto give enough details.

I just tried Shoutcast (using 3.0.4) after not using it for a couple of months and... it's not working! I get Download Success and then Service Unavailable if I do anything further.

According to shoutcast users the service has been patchy since changes to shoutcast 2 in July. That's when the Genre list was updated as well.

P.S Port Forwarding  won't solve shoutcast reception problems. You only need open shoutcast ports if your running a shoutcast server.

here are some details of my config:

Mede8er500X (old chipset)
Firmware:    V3.0.4
BootLoader:   0202.0017L

Networkconfig:

All devices (pc, TV, mede8er,etc) are connected to a L2 switch (LevelOne FSW-1621 Fastethernet).
The mede8er is using DHCP to get the ip-config.
This switch is connected to a router (dsl easybox 802 Firmware Version:20.02.220)

I´m using firefox as the standard browser.

A few more details (might be helpful):

I noticed this problem on my mede8er one week ago. After that I tried to reach the shoutcast page with my browser.
At that moment I got the error message "Service temporary not available" within my browser.
But now the page is working again and the mede8er still has got the problem.

That's becuase shoutcast can change the servers and then download updates to make your PC compatible without you realising.

Mismatch  between servers and fimeware is not unkown. Perhaps the Iphone / flash issue is the best known becuase it hit the News.

The difficulty is mediaplayer makers do not control Shoutcast. Sony control their media portals. They can make sure firmware updates are availabe at the same time as changed servers go online. So when you try to access them you get told "service requires fimeware update", and you update the firmware. Of course  if you had waited that would have been done automatically.

You will be pleased  to know the Playon!HD  has had shoutcast problems in the past. But they didn't start on a fix until after shoutcast had changed becuase they didn't know. Shoutcast dosn't seem bothered to tell mediaplayer makers in advance!

Yesterday, i decided to download 304 again and installed.. radio did not do it,
Than, i did install the latest Beta version... gues what? radio worked ! Bud hold on, not all of the generes work. for example: top 40 doesn't work.
Will have to wait for new firmware release, the beta is a bit slow and the audio trough optical has faults..
But what a eye candy, i love it......

My Mede8er (firmware 3.04) doesn't want to show a list of radiostations. It just download this but it doesnt want to show. The only way I could hear radio is by using favourites which I made earler.

Whats going on?

The problem is with the shoutcast server. This is basically a huge index to a library of music channels sourced elsewhere. The med500 is a having problems accessing the index, but the channels are still broadcasting from their seperate sources. If you have a channel stored as a favorite it can still be accessed, but you can't add new channels via the index held by shoutcast.

See: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,3864.0.html

Problem is sorted and confirmed.
Mede8er is aware and looking into a solution.
