Hi

Most dvd players come with two menu buttons, one for the root/top menu and one for the actual menu.
I have noticed that pressing the "menu" button on the remote when playing a DVD always brings me to the top menu, which in most cases is the language selection.
Is it possible to go to the regular dvd menu somehow? At this moment I'm forced to go through commercials first, which I can skip on my regular dvd player

Thanks

Then you have a hacked DVD players of some kind!  DVD-video allows user control to be limited using embedded commands. So things like skip and chapter menu can be disabled until after the piracy/copyright statement and adverts have played. Sounds like the med500 is actually sticking to  the rules.

You would think that this is something you can disable when ripping akin to removing copy protection and region codes.

No, my dvd player is definitely not hacked  Grin
It's not the piracy/copyright statement that I'm talking about, but some "now on dvd" commercials etc. They play between the top menu (language selection) and the dvd menu, on my regular dvd player the menu button goes straight to the dvd menu, the top menu button takes me back to language selection.

The menu button of the mede8er acts like the top menu button of my dvd player, so I was wondering if it's possible to trigger the regular menu button?

I have adverts on my Sony DVD's and I cannot skip around them or get to the chapter menu on my DVD player. The first these controls are enabled is when the main movie menu appears.

If you have DVD's with ads and long winded piracy messsages (I just wish the guy jumping out of the window with the stolen TV woud break his neck and never reappear!) then consider re-authoring when ripping. You should be able to remove these compaletely just leaving the movie.
