Hello, I can not seem to get the new icons to work. Got a 500x2 made a "videowall"-folder in the root of the HDD (in lowercase) put the images in there. someone wrote that it should be jpg so i tried. tried png. all below 75k 156x233 px in size. restarted the player but still, only the standard images show. What am i doing wrong  |

You trying to set up an X2 as if it's an X1. Go to the X2 section and read in the latest manual the section on skinning (page 28). With an X2 you can skin icons into flash..that way they are avaialble if you chose to boot to favourites.

I know there are a lot of images on the web, but can't find this image.

Could somebody please lay this out in simple terms for me please...? How do I get the custom genre icons onto my X2? And please don't say read page 28 of the manual as I've done that hundreds of times - got a folder named "genre" on my network (though on my mede8er, if I open it I can't see anything though can see all the icons on my PC), pressed menu, hit set to skin, reboots...no new genre icons! Driving me a bit mad now - worked fine on my 500X which I'm beggining to wish I'd kept...  |

Have you a parent folder for the genre folder...it's that parent folder that you skin....see item 25:- http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,8213.0.htmlI havn't tried over the network. It's easier with a USB stick,..as once the icons are skinned the stick can be removed. |

Hi Basil
What you are meant to do is this:
1. Create a folder, call it anything you want (I'm going to refer to this folder as myIcons)
2. Browse to the location of myIcons, but do not go into the folder
3. With myIcons highlighted, click on Menu, then Set Skin
As jer said, using a folder on a USB stick might be a lot better than trying to do it over the network.

OK guys - I think I've got it...at the moment I have a folder called genre on my network - in that folder is the icons. I try to skin tha folder and nothing happens - what I need to do is put that folder inside another folder (the parent folder), go to the parent folder, select set to skin and it'll skin what's in the folder in the parent folder... Right...?  |

Yes. Inside the myIcons folder should be the 'genre' folder with all the icons

Hello, it has been a while since i have been on here so a little out of the loop. but i am now back on track for sawting out my NAS etc. but i did have a favout to ask, i was wondering if over four icons some new ones could be done that say Movies A - F, then Movies G - L and then Movies M - S and lastly Movies T - Z. would this be ok
