For images you can use an SD card that stay in the mede8er. That way you can have them without needing a harddrive in your mede8er and or have something sticking out on the side.

Good idea... thanks  :)

Good news. All is working well. I managed to download the genre icons and they work perfectly.
In regards to the dimensions of the pictures of 156 x 233, Is this the size of the original image before making it compatible fir the mede8er videowall? If not, how large is the original image to shrink this down and keep the quality?
What is the best way for me to attempt to create my own.

Thanks for the replies

Best wishes

I got the genre setup correctly now, but do i need to put all my movie's hand by hand in the right genre folder?
Or can this be done with another tool/program that does this job all by itself?

Thx.

You link folders to the Videowall. Thus is you have a folder called 'Action' where all your action movies are stored, you would add this to the videowall and use the genre art for 'Action' on the wall.

So yes, if you want to split your movies by genre, then you have to create genre folders and move the sub-folder/movies into the appropriate genre folder yourself.

Personally I don't do this myself, I just use top-level folders like \Movies , \TV Series , \Home videos etc., but I understand why some people want to organise their collection like this.

To much work doing that!!!
I will make one movie genre and put all my movie's in there.
To bad that it can't be more easier than that.

This videowall is newest feature in Mede8er, everything done by manually add shortcut from root genre (or category) folder.
because mede8er cannot automatically scan your movies, everything done by yourself.

There is already a lot on the web....

When you use Google for example:
http://www.mediabrowser.tv/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1880

Only need to convert this to jpg.

I downloaded the psd file for the plastic icons. But how to use it in photoshop? Do you have an idea?

I have had a Mede8er MED400x for a couple of weeks now and I am loving it.  ;D

For the past couple of years I have been struggling to get my HTPC to play all the various media with the correct video and audio streams etc. This has involved almost continual tinkering and updating. Also the wife and kids just find it a lot of hassle to use when they just want to switch on and watch some content, as the PC always wanted to do something else first. In comparison the Mede8er is a dream to use - so simple but so effective too!
The reason I chose the MED400x is that I stream all my media off my NAS, so I did not need on board storage. My choice was between the Mede8er, the PlayOn!HD mini and the WDTV live. I went for the Mede8er because IMO it gave me just what I want in terms of a user friendly GUI and the Video Wall in the V4 firmware.

The one thing I do like about my HTPC is the MediaBrowser interface in 7MC. In particular I have got used to the Xzener genre icons as they match the names I know have for my folder structure. So in order to keep things simple for me I have adapted these for use with the video wall.

Here they are in case anyone else wants to use them.

I'm not sure the wife would go for you Chick Flick icon. Hugh Grant and Handbags would be more like it! Perhaps you mean that certain kind of movie with just chicks in it that blokes like? ;)

:o She hasn't complained yet, but I see what you mean.

How about this then:

Less likely to cause disharmony and confusion for those using the video wall  ::)
