For those who have issues with updating a unit with 17L bootloader:

Suggestions:
- please remove all usb devices, only connect the usb stick with the fw on it (17L patch version), with the 2 files on the root of the stick.
- folllow the instructions that come with it.
- please tell which version you used (the rar or zip packed file), just to check if you used all the same version
- please tell if you have an internal disk in your mede8er
- please tell as much as possible about your setup, we must find why its not working for you and if it is related to some specific setup.
- please tell what step you took to update, step by step, and what you see on the screen. We need to be sure that those having these issues are using the proper update procedure.

First i see a screen with "Installing Patch"
Then mede8er reboot and it installed the Beta4 Firmware.
Then the progress bar stops at 3/4 and the mede8er hangs up.

Internal Disk is a 2 TB Hitachi HDS72202 and formatted by mede8er setup.
I have a Samsung LE40B750 over HDMI and a Yamaha RX-V 661 over Coaxial connected.LAN is wired (D-Link DIR-655)

I suggest the following to try:
- please remove all usb devices, only connect the usb stick with the fw on it (17L patch version), with the 2 files on the root of the stick
- maybe also disconnect the internal disk temporary, just to be sure that is not causing the hang during upgrade.

Reading your comments the L17 bootloader update fails. And because its fails, V4 cannot be loaded because it needs the 26 bootloader to run.
We need to find out why the 26 update is not working for you.

Guys,

please tell which version you used (the rar or zip packed file), just to check if you used all the same version.
please try my suggestions to minimize your mede8er as much as possible to be sure nothing in your setup is holding the update somehow.
please try another usb stick if you have one, to be sure its not cause by usb sitck
please try to disconnect your internal mede8er disk temporary, to see if thats not preventing the update
please remove spdiff or coax cable temprorary to see if that is not preventing the update somehow

regards,

Used the rar: 0017L_bootloader_patch.rar, 55.646 mb.

Just reformatting usb stick to see if that works.

I'll disconnect peripherals.

So your stick had a hidden partition.... That program from HP is just removing those.
Thanks for this feedback and also a thing for the others to try that tool. Just google for it.

Same problem here:

1. Patch installed but no reboot.
2. Tried again, started to install beta 2 and blocked at 3/4.
3. Tried with another stick, blocks and appears message: Install error, please reboot. Set kernel image size failed.
4. Tried to go back to version 3.0.4: same above message with the "kernel".
5. Now is dead, just the logo.
