@Domino1999, maybe is the wrong fw. Try to use v3.0.5 and check if hw ok. Then if ok reflash v4

It's not the wrong f/w! It's V4 final NON_HD. It's been downloaded and re-flashed several times. Never had this problem with 3.0.4 or 3.0.5.

Someone posted that they think the remote ID code has changed with V4. Your not using another remote when the Med turns itself on?

Also can you try removing the HDMI cable, turn it on, wait for blue, wait a minute, then turn off to Red and see what happens. The TV may be waking up the Med via HDMI when the cable is connected.

Where getting  into "Strange, but True" terrority since few are having any of the problems currently being reported.  So where having to did around for explanations.

To verify if its firmware related, just downgrade to previous where you didn't had the problem, and verify if its coming back.

Ok  reverted back to  v4-5beta no  problem now with switching back on from standby with either remote control.
Any idea why this should happen?

Frank,

Can you give exactly the steps that you are doing?
So:
- In what screen are you and what is mede8er doing when you press on standby on your remote?
Try to describe as detailed as possible.

I have both a DD and DD+ unit and want to try to reproduce this.
I have also a Logitech remote.

I think I got my issue fixed. I had a USB stick plugged in and also had the main Mede8er to PC USB lead also plugged in (at Mede8er end, not PC end). After unplugging both of these, the Mede8er no longer comes out of standby by itself. I will run a few more tests, but I won't be able to post back until after my holiday in 2 weeks.

EDIT: The problem still persists. I will try reverting to 3.0.5 to see what happens then. If the problem does not occur on 3.0.5, I will try V4B5 (as I don't recall having this problem there). If no problem with V4B5, I will update again to V4 Final NO_HD and test again.

 Maasbommel ,

After re-installing latest  V4, I used my Mede8er remote to try switching off from different locations within Mede8er ie Wall , movie .During this time it did not switch back on after going to standby (red light)

I then went  to internet radio (message download ok ) and then located sites I wanted to add to favorites this was ok. tried to run a radio site at first I got the message download site  ok , then went to a specific site  (message download failed).
Then switched off  still did not switch back on.

A this point I used the Harmony remote switched on ( TV, Bose and Mede8er on) went to Wall, movie all worked ok, then tried internet radio all the sites failed. Tried to switched off with Harmony remote Mede8er did not switch off ,went to help on remote after several attempts Mede8er went to standby (red light ) several seconds  latter the Mede8er switched back  on.
Then switched  off with  Mede8er remote , several seconds latter Mede8er switched back on.
No matter which remote I use the Mede8er switches back on .

I would have liked to have the Internet radio working from the re-installation of  V4 then I could have ruled out the Mede8er remote, before reverting to the use of the Harmony operation with the Mede8er.

Is it possible that the Harmony can change any codes on the hardware of the Mede8er V4?
Is there any know problem with internet radio on V4?

No problem with either remote on previous software version.

Hi Frank,

Reading your comments I suspect some process on the mede8er is starting to hang what causes the restartt when you set it on standby.
It looks related to some network instability as you say it seems to happen when you notice that Internet Radio is not working any more at a specific moment.
I tried to reproduce your steps, but was not able to do so.

regards,

because this is more related with old hw version (DD) , i think the problem it happen more when a USB flash disk (pen drive) is connected.  it doesn't happen with usb hdd disks.

if someone with this issue can remove usb flash disks and verify it will be usefull

Hi,
I also have the problem with the Mede8er turning itself back on randomly.

To give some extra info,
I never experienced this before changing to the V4 firmware. So it seems probable to be a bug with the latest firmware.

Now I have 4 mede8ers positioned around the house, all are without internal HDD & all are connected to the same network (accessing content from a server)
Now the interesting part is that so far only one of the Mede8ers has displayed the 'Random Turning On' fault.

All the Mede8ers are used in exactly the same way - Except on the one that is suffering the fault.
With that one I sometimes plug in a USB stick to transfer files to the server.

So I also think it may be the problem comes about with a combination of use of V.4 Firmware and use of the USB port/stick.
I hope this helps, please let me know if any further info is needed.

Cheers Paul.

I came across this problem yesterday. I had turned off the power to all my home thater kit, and the modem/router, over night. The next day I turned the power on to the home theater kit, but not the modem/router.  After pressing the Power Button on the Med I proceded to watch a program, and then put it into standby. After 20 mins the Med came back on!

I solved the problem by turning off the Med at the mains again, and powering up the modem/router before turning the mains back on to the Med.  This meant the Med could now correct it's clock/timer via the internet when powered up.

So the problem could be related to the med losing timer information when powered down. There could be some hidden power up/power down functions that get affected by this.

Have anyone got the solution yet? Have also problem with MED500X powering itself after 20s. I'm using also Harmony one remote(can be also occasion cause many peolple are using Harmony One). Internal hdd is installed. Didn't do any changes in mede8er. Lan or wifi is not connected. Using v4.04 noHD.

Seems like I found temporary solution: I turned NAS off and Remote off. No self powering anymore. But still I'd like to know how to fix it for good.
