Yesterday i've updated and my bootloader 0017L and to V4. It looks great. Many thanks. I have had two problems to solve: 1. All the configuration settings were gone. O.K.. But my FIX IP settings were (of course) also gone after the update. This was a little bit irritating because it is not so easy to solve unless you're very familiar with it. 2. After the update I've got 6 folders instead of 3 in the root of my HDD. Before ; Movies, Pictures and Music. After: Image, Movies, movies, Music, music, Pictures movies and music are shortcuts to Movies an Music. don't know if it's a good idea to delete the shortcuts. 2. is a known bug and on the buglist 1. you might have tried to save config before the upgrade and restore after it.

Is this happening when you are browsing on a network share, internal mede8er disk? And when on network share, are you using NFS or normal Samba fileshare?
Serveral times on internal disk. One time on samba, but at that time i did not yet recognize what happened.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this on, since I doubt that the issue is Beta 4 specific. The problem is that when going into the Video Wall (first level), at the top of the screen, I get on the left hand side USB and then D:/Videos/Movies ... etc on my one mede8er, whereas on my other mede8er, it says Hard Drive and the HDD:/Videos/Movie.... etc, depending on the Video Wall Shortcut selected. This happens even though I dont even have a USB device plugged in. The file structure on the two players are identical and I try to keep them as such, but this issue is causing the Video Wall shortcuts not to work on the second player if I restore a configuration file from the first player to the second player. Any idea why I get this and how to fix it?

Reading this I have the impression that your 2 mede8er are not identical formatted. One has a disk that is formatted from Mede8er setup, the other not. Please use this guide howto compare the 2 disk formats: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,701.0.html

I always format the hard drives in mede8er after installation. What I maybe should add is that at some stage the one mede8er (the one showing the hdd as a usb drive) regularly stopped responding and the only way to get it working then, was to unplug it. In the end I restored the firmware and reformatted the hdd (in the mede8er). After that, I first noticed the issue (i.e. that the hdd was shown as a usb drive). (Please don’t tell me to reformat again – I have 1,2Tb of files on the hdd and it takes forever to copy the data)

Maybe something went wrong with the format at that moment. But please use the method from the post I pointed to compare the 2 disks, I have the idea that one of them only has one NTFS partition and not the swap and linux partition.

nice update, but still no luck with the wifi nas option. after a while the transfer crashes and says write delay etc etc. I was hoping the nas option was working in v4. I formatted the hdd in the mede8er and foloowed the normal instructions. Via cable the nas works, wifi still not. My fault or just still buggy?

No moaning, just remarks, questions
Videowall:: Videowall looks OK, I would prefer that the focus on the folders, films could be a little more explicit. (now thin blue line.)
My file structure is HDD1/ Movies/ Genre1/ film1, film2, film3 HDD1/ Movies/ Genre 2/ film5, ....., film6 HDD1/ film x, film y, ....
When I put folder "Movies" in the videowall, I can see film x, film y, ... and folder "Genre 1", "Genre 2" are empty boxes, when I click on them nothing happens, black screen, after a while back to video wall.
I have to put folder "Genre 1", "Genre 2" in video wall to get to film1, film2 etc., but the black folders are still there.
Custom Genre I made a directory "videowall", put some .jpg's in it with the correct size, but they don't show up. Can you mahe a different "Genre" than the ones that are already there ?

I puzzled with the videowall too, but i get the correct pictures for the genres.
The folder "videowall" has to be in the root of your local HDD/USBstick.
Drawback that i see is that you cannot use both sources together(default genre icons and the custom jpg's). Maybe mede8er can put the genre icons for download so users can put these in the videowall folder also to pick.
As for custom genres. Just link the genre folder so it has that name in the videowall en select a custom jpg and you are fine. That's how it works with me.

I checked the "sick" mede8er. Win7 shows 3 partitions: 1 NTFS Primary Partition and 2 others of 157 Mb each (Healthy Primary Partition) and 158 MB "Unallocated"

This looks normal. A trick that might help to correct this: downgrade this unit to 2.1.0 version using recovery mode. After that upgrade again to your current release. Have seen some having this problem, that did this downgrade to 2.1.0 and then up to 3.0.4 to fix this.
