Feedback: MED500X V4 Beta 4

The videowall is great. I've put many movies in the genres, but can it be enhanced in someway?
As a lot of movies fall into more genres, would it be possible to make shortcuts to movies and put the shortcut in the other genre(s)? I tried it this afternoon, but it doesn't work right now.

V4 is really good work of you guys. Keep up the good work for the final release :-)

If you have updated to V4Beta4 you will have bootloader updated to 26.....
So is your question regarding to this V4BETA4 or is it for another release?

System info says still 23L and yes its v4b4 im currently using, looks great.

Thanks for the response. I have tried what you suggest, but will go throught it all again (incluing a re-download of the files(for a 3rd time!!)) and report back.

I got it working. A deep format of the usb stick did the trick. I've used the particular usb stick for at least 2 previous upgrades without any issue, but for some or other reason, I could not get it to work until I formatted the stick.
Thanks for your patience Maasbomme. The new interface looks awesome. It is fairly slow however.

Thanks for this feedback. The difference with this 17L patch update compared to other updates is the bootloader changing to version 26. Maybe that is the reason that usb sticks with a hidden partition (e.g. u3 partition) are not working for this proces. The specific format tool removes those hidden partitions.

Regarding to the speed of the movie wall: be sure that your folder.jpg files are not to big, or it will slow down the movie wall.
Please read the Video Wall instructions regarding to advised folder.jpg size and about.jpg size:

And be sure that you have loaded the latest Beta4 version after the patch install, check the info screen to verify you have the right version. When you only load the patch you will have a lower version.

Hmm, media library is not stable for me in beta4. I get hangs when navigating through the folders, at not repeatable points. I will try to reproduce, but it is not celar to me yet when it hangs. The remote becomes non-responsive, and sometimes the rotating "8"is stopped in its tracks.

NAS/Ftp/telnet are still working at that moment, but there is no other option that to power off or reboot via telnet.

I did not yet manage to get the video wall working. (Folders named video_ts are browsed instead of played, and maybe i need to read the manula 3 or 4 more times, which is an indication it still is too complicated)

And is this happening in standard setup or modded setup with modded ext3 partition?

When set HDMI and Optical out to passtrough, audio is ok.
But no internet radio !! Optical has to be set in 2CH Downmix.
Then internetradio if ok but movies are only 2CH instead of 5.1......

This was not the case with v3

Everything works fine here, and it is still a Beta Release, but I love to see the final, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

But here are some annoyances:

Firmware 3.0.4.

• HDMI Audio -> Off
  
• SPDIF -> Passthrough

Worked for me because I never use TV Set for Audio or Sound.

Firmware 4.0 beta 2
Option 1:

• HDMI: Downmix 2CH
  
• SPDIF: Passthrough

Not 2Chan on audio set and no 2CH movies on audio set, no MP3 on audio set, sound only on TV Set, not workable for me

Option 2:

• HDMI: Passthrough
  
• SPDIF: Passthrough

Not usable in any means for me

I see this is addressed in firmware issue number 1]. So I think in the final it is fixed. Now flashing back to 3.0.4 because box is unusable when this issue is not fixed.

I have a little bit testet the new Beta4 Realease and i post some issues:

- Internet Radio doesent work. When i will play a radio station the media says "download failed"

- When i will play a movie (avi or mkv) it takes 5 seconds before the movie starts. In 3.0.4 i dont must wait so long

-I have no sound on amp when i have a 2 channel movie and SPDIF is set to Multichannel. I must set it to 2 channel.Then i have sound. In 3.0.4 i dont must change the settings.

-When iam in a movie and i press the setup button the menu is not transparent.

-Over network i cant access to my pc. It always will be have a username and password. Or is it a windows 7 problem? Have tried some settings but ist doesnt work for me.

hi all! so  as i said  i installed the new Beta firmware on the box of my friend but due to the beautiful interface, i aslo decided to install it on my own box!  i think some issues  that have already been listed in the beta issue list  are still in this beta 4!
- slower interface i mean, when im on synopsis  view, and i click ok, the film lounch after 5-6  seconde...(less in 3.0.4)
-some freez of the interface when i plug a external hardrive on usb port: here  i got a lot of films that are displayed for somme second with artefact (at the begining) and no audio....) 3.0.4 it was nice but here not!
- i didnt used the internet radio nor the network system cause i do not use this.....
-i prefer to  revers back to 3.0.4 and wait for the last stable release  in fall october  or even half  of november !
keep up the good work! video wall looks fantastic!

i have problems installing the new firmware
with the emergency procedure..
it says
installing V4..
then i see couple of  blocks
but then it freezes......
any ideas?

I have also noticed last night, some of my movies also has green artefact at the beginning, but I will try several again and check/compare the mediainfo log .. I hope not Mede8er bug ..

Make sure you have set your Default Gateway/DNS correctly. Mine kept defaulting to 127.0.0.0 (I think) when it should have been 192.168.0.1.

I have the same, though I wasn't aware this was an issue as I have only just got the player and updated to the latest firmware.

Most likely Windows 7 issue (though could be due to the your first point too). You need to disabled password access in the Network and Sharing Center.
