Hi there,

so now i finally got my mede8er!  Grin

tried to acces med by network but cant get it to work? tried nfs etc... i want to copy files to hdd of mede8er by using the windows explorer.
mede8er has an ip given (auto mode), interet radio working..
here are my questions:

1. what method gets the fastest transfer rate?
2. how do i set up to get that method working, step by step?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WTF! finally got it working!  Grin  Grin

Heres what to do:

- configure workgroup of pc to: WORKGROUP, restart!
- manually set ip, subnet, dns server etc. in Mede8er settings (dont use auto !), restart!
- if you have zonealarm go to zonealarm -> firewall -> zones -> add ->
subnet -> enter ip, subnet, description of mede8er and set to "Thrusted"
- now you can type in "explorer" or "internet explorer": \\Mede8er and should finally get access!  Wink

Note: typing \\Mede8er in FIREFOX is not working!! i know that now...

have fun!

1. USB connection
2. Plug USB type 'B' port on side of Mede8er into USB Type 'A' port of PC (Mede8er connects as 'dumb' USB storage drive) - Use copy manager to transfer files...

It's far faster than via network hands down - you'll be achieving USB 2.0 speeds which it great for huge data dumps - not as good as eSATA but good enough...

Ah - I though you wanted the fastest transfer... Wink
There is only one LAN protocol for transfer at this point - SAMBA.
NFS is only available for streaming.

There will be a look in the future at ways of improving the network transfer rates but don't expect miracles - I can't see that the network transfer speed is going to improve too dramatically...

Type \\mede8er\ into your Windows Explorer address bar

o Ensure both devices are within same IP subnet

o Ensure firewalls / router allows connectivity

Be sure that your PC has the workgroup name WORKGROUP.
Be sure you have set NAS ON in the mede8er setup menu.

On your PC just type \\mede8er or \\ip-adres-of-mede8er
Now you should see the internal HDD and able to copy files to it with windows explorer and create directories.

If you still cannot connect this way, power off your mede8er completely (red led or blue led off).
Try again when your mede8er is fully up.

Hi shizzl

Did you try \\ip-adres also?
Did you try to remove power and try again?

It should work.....

when typing in your mede8er ip adres in your webbrowser, do you see the mede8er test webpage?

Should be something in your network config preventing to get the SAMBA connection.

If you want us to be able to help you with this problem, please give some details how you connected the things together.

All posts say upgrade to firmware 1.2.2a... I have same problem, but it's not nb to me to stream or copy over via lan so i use usb 4.5m cable, much faster than 10/100. Though if you are able to eventually connect via lan post how to... It would be interesting to see where i went wrong. I disabled zonealarm completly. Used a switch cable direct from mede8er to pc. Sharing on, WORKGROUP name. Same subnet. NAS on/off...
