i like my mede8er to be switched of completely when i am not using it , instead of just putting it in standby mode
i have seen on this forum that u can do that by holding the power on/off button for 5 seconds
But when i do that , the mede8er keeps making noizes and lights go out (no red of blue light anymore) and he doesn't
respond no more when i want to switch it back on.  I tried the remote and the power button and also pressing it another
5 seconds. It has frozen completey (still hearing the Hd !) and all that works is pulling out the DC Jack (plug) and putting
it back in , than it responds normally again.

Hi john,

You need to perform that hard shut down from an 'ON' condition - I simulated that a few times.

Don't hold it in for 10 seconds or the unit will look for emergency firmware on a USB drive and commence an emergency update procedure. It will do no harm as long as it doesn't find firmware on the USB - in this event you will need to allow it to run through the entire upgrade process or you risk corrupting the installation.
