If you mean by attaching the MED500X by USB I guess that you need an NTFS driver for your MAC such as any of the ones,

NTFS for MacŪ OS X by Paragon (http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/)
Tuxera NTFS for MAC (http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-for-mac/)
Mediafour MacDrive (http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive)

all cost $$

I even believe that there is an native Apple Bootcamp NTFS driver available if you Google some you should be able to find it.

There is also an utility, NTFS Mounter,  (http://ntfsmounter.com) that enables the native capabilities to read/write NTFS..

The MED500X has over-the-network access that you might try also

You can also use FTP, first enable FTP support and create a FTP account on your Mede8er

Also note that if you set up "sharing" your Mac will create Mac system files on the Med. Those files will appear when your subsequently browse you med.

This is a Mac problem. NTFS isn't a Mac format and a Mac should respect the indexing that NTFS uses, not create it's own.
