First of all, my apologies for bringing up this old topic. The reason for not replying sooner is because I decided to buy another Mediaplayer in order to solve my stutter issues. However, a few days ago, a family member asked me to recommend him a good Mediaplayer. Moreover, he told me he was only going to use the internal HDD to playback his files. Obviously, I recommended him the MED500X Smiley.

Anyway, I am posting this because I am testing his unit right now and can confirm streaming 1080p over LAN, up to around 40mbit, works perfectly over SMB (!!). I expect performance to be slightly better over NFS and hope this post will remove any doubts whether the unit is capable of streaming 1080p material or not.

For those interested, the setup used is as follows.
- Streaming from a Synology DS410j with DSM 3.1 (1613);
- Mede8er connected to a network using Cat6 cabling and a Linksys WRT160N router (100mbit).
