hello guys! here is a brand new post with the step by step tutorial to create beautiful synopsis with a software called yadis!!!

warning!!!!!!:with v2.0.0 and 2.0.1: do not modify the  setup  window, DO NOT MODYFY THE DIRECTORY OT THE YADIS WORKSPACE or   the "dune interface location" or it will rase all your filmmmmm!!!!!!! i got no responsabilty in any problem if you modify the workspace destination or dune  interface!!

but please , note that since yadis 2.0.2 yadis create automaticaly (if you modify the dune interface location) a sub folder called    _yadis ,if the directory where you want to put yadis interface contains media file ...so theres no risk of delet of files! but take care!



so here is the step by step tuto:

1/first of all:  download and install this software  called "YADIS" :link to the software here
 http://yadis.whisperingvault.net/projects/yadis    version 2.1.2   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the software is compatible with english, french, german, spanish and italian languages and much more ! synopsis will be in the languages you choosed  by settings it in the main windows ( actually: only french, english, deutch and nederland synopsis)! (connection to french, english,deutch and nederland database!

2)- try to learn the basic of yadis by reading the pdf  guide you'll find on the official site, but be careful, you are concerned by the pdf only for a small part!

3)- when you get familiare with the creating process which is not compicated(  in the set up menu , choose first, the language you want yadis to be used... this option just translate the soft in the language choosen!

4)-then , choose  when yadis restart, in english now....or other language, click again setup button, and in the windows, in the "profil" section, " choose med500, click the "videowall button if you want yadis create folder and about jpg to be used in videowall, or dont click if you are not using videowall view but the older one, the "simple view " anyway, if you just used the ab or slow button.....   , choose the directory where  your film are...click ok!

5)- then yadis has now find your directory with all you film and series that appears in the small window at the left,

6)-the creating process can began!

7)-select your films ( try to choose maximum 20 films per 20 film) when selected your film that appear now in blue (max 20 so you sure theres no bug (the last version (1.3 has this kind of limit)   click  "process button"!

-yadis start automaticaly to search for jacket (folder jpg) ans synopsis (about jpg) trough the net , note that if you choose english it will search in the english database "tvdb" an alternative to imdb. you can also create deutch and nederland synopsis....

9)- please, try to have all your films , each film correctly named if possble and in each folder (even if now, yadis can create synopsis if your film are not in  folder  for each of them! and if you can manualy searched a film that yadis havent find in the database (its your fault  most of the time trust me... ex: the  title is not correctly  writen for exemple).

10)- the  process can take 2 or 3 min for 20 film  even less time!

11)- when yadis succeed in the search, all your films at the left appeared in blue with a blue icon that means ok!
you can now by choosing a film in the list , manualy changed the folder jpg, about jpg  , just go  to the button at the bottom of  the window called " cover" and " fanart" choose the image you prefere but you can also let the synopsis as yadis created it if its enough beautiful to your eyes!

12)-you can also edit manualy the media information:  go to media button , modify if you want!(realy useful if yadis  failed to recognised the information of your media but 99 pourcent of time it will be ok you'll not have to modify manualy!
you can also modify the film info  manualy , go to movie buton, etc....

13)- if yadis failed to find information about one of your film,  you can easily find it manualy!! : click the "change buton" in the right botom of window... write corectly the name of the film...  ok....yadis will propose you a film click the one coresponding to your search!

14)-when all your  synopsis have been created,  the manually part of the old tutorial is now the past,  yadis has created all your folder and about jpg, with a correct  name and size to be used properly in video wall!!!!!! or with the old technique ( a/b or slow button) so just close yadis and power on your med and unleash the power of it now!

all my 180 film in the internal hdd of med500 are linked in videowall all folder and about are welll linked and recognised by the med videowall! thank to yadis 2.1 , no more fastidiioud manual process !(naming and resizing is automatic now!)


17)-the finale result is  exactly the same of  what  the  owners of dune mediaplayer can profit on their dunes, with the  yadis interface in less of course. and in my opinion, I think that the jackets created with YADIS ARE  more beautiful than THOSE CREATED WITH tvixie...regarding the quality of the synopsis!

SO I HOPE THAT THIS LITTLE " french astuce from zaimben"  WILL BE USEFUL TO YOU! good work and good day. ps: it on ly took me 2  hours to  rescan  my 180 film in internal hdd  (aproxymatly 408 films...)

EDIT: sometime, yadis will encounter difficulty to find the info related to  a film , in this case, try to modify the title of the film by using the  "reload information button "  go on the main window of yadis in which you created the synopsis, right click "reload information" try to write the right name of the film , and do a manuallly search, in most of case 99pourcent) yadis will find what you want!!!!!

Hi zaimben13,

I tried the Dutch language setting.
It turns alle the things in the program to Dutch, but still the movie plots are in English language.

With YAMJ it is possible to create Dutch plots by pointing it to http://www.moviemeter.nl/, same with Tvixie.
Not with YADIS at the moment.

yeah, i see what you mean, actually the  software is only capable to generate synopsis in french and english,  there is a version 2 of the soft which is going to be released by the  guy who created it... this v2 will be able to generate deutch and nederland synopsis by using a new database (one in deutxhland the other one......
italian and spanish are also on the line.... i will come back here to  warn the community when the new version will be released !
also: the creator of the software is interested  with the idea to  fully adapt  it on the med500 ! he want to know more about the abilyty of the med to accept third party plugin software ! can you give me more info? is the box capable (or will it be? when yamj...will arrive)of accepting other soft than yamj ?

Edit: Ok it's solved for those who have an OCX error during the installation, you should install Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package.

ps: for the moment, yadis is capable of generate french and english synopsis! ohter languages are comming soon in the v2 version: but NO PRECISE DATE CAN BE GIVEN BY THE DEVS!!! :)patience...

I can't believe in the perfect tool that can
scan/rename/get pics/get synopsis/create folders/and move files to the nmt's and keep them up to date but this one is the best approach I have found 
Thank you for this one ;-)

- First I had to map my nmt drive.
- Second clean my files name with a free renamer (remove team tags,Descriptions etc...).
- List my files in a dos prompt (because I have no folders at all ).
- Copy the list in a txt file and with the help of this tool Text2Folders launch the folders creation.
- Start the scan (apparently based on the folder list and not directly on the nmt drive with the movies, we never know .... it's really fast but I have 2 remarks...

>I just noticed that if the movie is not present in the source folder during the scan, only few files are created without the synopsis. I tried by adding a fake movie file inside one of the folder and after another scan more files were created with synopsis etc...
I mean it's not possible to use the tool offline only with with a list of empty folders and without mapping the nmt drive?  As technically we always need folders in this kind of projects to show pics on nmt's, why not basing the scan on the folders name only.  We will have the opportunity to do all the job offline and then update the nmt's (and we will not taking care of the movie file name).

  i knew that this software will  help you guy! hope other people will use it .. the more people will use it on the med, the more chance we'll have to get an adaptation of yadis directly on med!

concerning the  suggestions:
actually yadis need to have all your film in each folder with only the reight name of the film (as it is said in the user guide of yadis!! so its normal that you only got some information if your film is not in the folder or if the folder is empty (i know, it would have been cool if it was like you said but this soft is always improoved by its creator "fred-l" so in a new version, may be he will implemant it!

i know that in the v2 that is coming soon (no precise date will be given...) new languages are on the line (synopsis directly create in the languages you choose: dutch, spanish, italian.... yadis will use a lot of new database!!!
you will aslo be able in this v2 to modify by your self the info concerning(manually) the codec used, the subtitle, the laguage of the film eetc... all manually if you want(at this moment yadis dont give you this opportunity!

a lot of new feature are also on the line may be  the one you are looking for .....

And that's exactly what I do here.. I won't try the application because you come on waaay too strong to get people to try it.. I'm probably a very paranoid person, but in this case YADIS "makes my spidey sense tingle": what is the hidden agenda with all this relentless pushing and promoting of this application? I can appreciate a developer trying to reach more people for his/her applciation, but the way it is handled on this forum is very... unprofessional (and kind of childish)..

It seems I will have to review my previous statement..

I didn't realize it's the same yaDIS that Fred-L created for the HDI Dune mediaplayers.. 

So in that regard I retract my statement of not trusting or trying the yaDIS application, as I have tried it earlier this year when it was posted on MPCClub... It was pretty solid, but haven't tried it since..

But I do however stand by my previous statement regarding its promotion here..

I agree with you TimoLimo. I received 3 PMs regarding this software. As you said I can understand someone trying to promote it's software but it should be done in more sensitive way, not by bothering ppl with spam. So after I received 3 PMs I did try it and it's nice....but overall look is less eye-candy than the one from YAMJ so I will stick with YAMJ for now.

As you said I can understand someone trying to promote it's software but it should be done in more sensitive way, not by bothering ppl with spam. So after I received 3 PMs I did try it and it's nice....but overall look is less eye-candy than the one from YAMJ so I will stick with YAMJ for now.

actually i was  making some research on the forum on some topics, i saw that some of you guys experienced some problemes with using yamj or thumb gen or some other soft... so i decided to help you by sending you ONE mail  which contains the link to those tutorial!

here is a link to megaupload where you will find my own personnal synopsis created with yadis!!! there is  exactly 188  complete synop^sis that the med500 community can use with med500x !!!
just note that those synopsys has been created by myself and correspond especialy to my own file (mkv....) the info concerning the codec video, audio codec, languages (it is in french...) and subtitles.... are related to my own files and ma y not match your own mkv file ....
for those who do not understand french, you can just download the archivce (50 mo aproxymatly) and just see the quality of the word made by yadis....
