First of all you'll need to verify the cable connection. Do the network connection LEDs on both sides light up?

I suggest to power off and on both your mede8er and experia box if it was working before.
Then first your box power on again, then your mede8er.

Are you sure you are not getting an ip address from your router when using DHCP?

You need to look right next Wired Lan Setup (DHCP IP Auto / FIX IP Manual) and not right of Wireless Setup, that will show DHCP not ready by default when no wifi dongle is connected.

I have seen more people in the past seen giving feedback that they did not get an ip, but were looking at the wrong line in network setup.

If still not get an ip then my guess is that DHCP server is not running on your router.

You might consider to configure a fixed IP address on your mede8er lan port to test further if you don't get an ip from your router. That should work also...
Use an ip in the same range as your PC, but be sure it is not a duplicate address, the first 3 digits need to be te same, the last need to be different if you are using netmask 255.255.255.0

e.g. if your pc is 192.168.0.1 give your mede8er 192.168.0.2, use subnet 255.255.255.0
use for default gateway the ip address of your router.

Now set NAS to ON and from your PC open a dos box and type \\mede8er\hdd1 or \\ip-address-of-your-mede8er\hdd1 (replace the text by your real PC ip number)

For the moment try to keep connection alive by ping M8R IP

eg: in run cmd from your computer type: ping IP(M8R IP) -t
Do not close this until M8R or pc shutdown.
I hope that will work for you Grin Grin
