Hi Goldpanner,

Yes, you can if you like, just use recovery mode to go back to 2.1.0 and not the upgrade option in setup.
Just did this already a few times for verification and without any problem.

1st. you don`t need to downgrade you`re firmware as sugested on forum to V 1.2.2a
2nd. you don`t need to make a new account on you`re network as sugested on forum.

Try first to upgrade from v 2.02 to v 3.02 and try to get your network started if it does not work
try what i mentioned later.
for safety i always have a backup of my files on mede8er Grin

Make a backup of all the files on you`re mede8er
pluginn usb on you`re pc/laptop and remove all the partitions from mede8er within windows
I personally used acronis disk director suite to remove partitions.do not format disk.
install firmware V 3.02 and format mede8er disk with mede8er.
Put back all you`re files on mede8er with file manager mede8er (usb).
Or you can add them later with network connection

If you have trouble to get connection with mede8er on you`re network i found a solution.
you dont have to make a new account as sugested to me in forum!
put in the values in network fix by hand.
Add in IP mede8er 172.19.x.x(my case)
subnetmask 255.255.0.0 (in my case)
Then go to control pannel chose network and click on lan and then details and  look for ip 4 standard gateway
put this number in as standard gateway.
Put the same values in IP DNS server( the same as the standard gateway)
Then restart mede8er en unplug the power and restart mede8er.

if you follow these steps everyting is gonna be OK( In Most cases)
only internet radio does not work but thats normal at the moment they are  working hard to fix this problem

Personally my experience is that upgrading to 3.0.x versions and downgrading to 2.1.0 is possible without the need of wiping all the partitions and reformatting.
I have done it several times, without any issue.

Wiping diskpartitions (With Acronis or linux dd command or windows diskmanager) is only needed in that rare occasions where the format on the disk has become corrupted somehow and not possible to repair it with windows filesystem check and linux e2fsck.
It happened to a few, but majority have not seen this.
It think it is also not related to V3 upgrades, we have seen that kind of rare occasion also on 2.0.x configurations and on 1.2.x configurations in the past. Just use search option and you will find some.

Cheers,

Hi Otherbird

Pls check in "Setup" then "Info" what version is installed and it sounds like you may have V3 and not V3.0.2 as v3.0.2 does not have any audio issues that we are aware of.

Mede8er1

You are right, currently I am still runing on v3. will update to v3.0.2 and see how it works then! thanks for the quick response.

This solution sounds good if you have an extra 2tb hard drive laying around, I have almost 2tb of .iso's on my mede8er hard drive, even though backing up the files is the smart thing to do, and a person should do, some of us are not in that position:) So the reformat option is not an option until I get a spare 2 tb hard drive, my Laptop only holds 60gigs:)

I had to reformat my Harddisk because someone on the forum sugested me to go back to v 1.2.2a and than ugrade to v3.02.
afther that my harddisk was called usb 1 and that is not what ik had in mind i want the right name hdd on my mede8er
so i had to remove the partitions to get rid of the harddisk called usb 1.
afther wat ik described my hardisk had the correct name again Grin

otherwise i had not deleted my partitions but i had to do that because it was very confusing when i connected a usb drive to my mede8eris i was seeing usb 1 and usb 2 on my pc and had conflicts with the mede8er filemanager
to transfer and edit files Lips sealed

the solution i described is the solution to get the name of the mede8er build in harddrive called hdd1 again

Hi Maasbommel,

Just a follow-up to your helpful post, I Did what you said and rolled back to an earlier firmware but I didn't go back to 2.1.0, I originally had 2.0.2 on my unit and it worked good, so I rolled back to that following the steps to get it done right posted on here. It worked like a charm, no troubles I can see yet, now my NAS works, before on 3.0.2 when I tried to turn the NAS on it would say "internal Hard drive not found" which was one of the noted issues on the new firmware, but now it works good, and also on some of my .iso files with version 3.0.2 when I would push play it would come up saying "invalid file" which before with version 2.0.2 the files played perfectly, so I solved a lot of troubles by just going back.
I think I will stay on the 2.0.2 version until a new firmware is released that addresses all the issues, until then I am happy with 2.0.2:)
Thanks again for the help:)

Here the same problem with the NAS function after updating. I hope there will be soon a new update which will resolve this problem. It takes more than a day to backup, format and retore my hdd.

Except this point I saw that some DVD menus have problems in the control and functionality.

Hello forummenbers Roll Eyes

Ik tryed a lot of things, downgraded to v1.2.2a as someone sugested at the forum, deleted partitions disk and upgraded tp v 3.2 dit not work for me.(NAS)
upgraded normally, did not the job .
i am struggeling now for a week with v3.02 and must say there are still magor buggs in it  Cry
then got back to version 2.02 suddenly some files where not working and recognised
It in my case it only works the first time after upgrading and put in the numbers manually.
I was very glad it worked, but after restarting mede8er for the second time it did not work again.
i think the mede8er does not remenber the settings afther rebooting.
strange thing also is that in mede8er there is a possibility to save the settings(that never worked always says failed)
upgrading within mede8er itself also never works must always do emergency recovery procedure.

I do not understand why these bugs are not solved alreaddy in earlier firware updates, and why you can`t upgrade
online via internet, personally i think they are not doing a good job with the firmware updates.
i read so many people who have issues.

Lets hope the next upgrade will give full functionality to the mede8er in particular the possibility to save the settings
in mede8er ( my question is why is there the tab saving stettings if it never works?Huh)
why not solve these problems first !!!!!!!!!!or is it my mede8er that is not OK and must be returned for repair???

i think i am not the only one who has these questions,

That resume issue you describe has been resolved in more recent firmware.

Please download the v3.0.4 firmware and follow the installation instructions provided.
Do not use the Setup menu to update firmware - it appears that some code from older firmware versions is retained unless you update using the 'emergency' method described in the release notes.
