We found a HDMI issue on Model: LG 42PG60UR-AFB but other models have not had this issue. We have tested new SDK on LG 42PG60UR-AFB and it resolves the HDMI issues. So I would not really worry as the new SDK resolves all known HDMI handshaek issues that we are aware of at this point in time. We are trying to get this firmare to market within 2 wks.

Hi guys,

Just to add a remark regarding to the HDMI handshaking issues.

Keep in mind then when 2 devices have problems in "speaking" with each other, the root cause of it could be on both sides.
So just also keep an eye on using the latest firmware of all components that you are using if trying to solve it.

As an example, I have a Samsung LCD TV and this can also be flashed with firmware....
During the time I have it already 3 new version became available.
So keep an eye on this also is my advise.

Personal opinion and rant: this HDMI seems to be a very loose 'standard' if updates keep coming out - unfortunately for all components that want to connect to each other via HDMI it is a bit like trying to hit a moving target - great if your in a hi-tech tank but not so great if you're developing multimedia components... Hi Insomniac,

That precise the reason why I made my comment.....
It is a real pitfall that only realtek SDK updates can fix the few HDMI issues we see and want to made sure mede8er owners focus also "on the other side" of the HDMI cable when they are having HDMI handshake problems.  Roll Eyes

These bugs revolve around HDMI handshake issues specific to certain of the latest LG and Sony TV models.
These have been tested and have been resolved to a large extent by the latest Realtek SDK which is being included in the next firmware release.
Not everyone is experiencing these issues, only those with specific TV models and using HDMI.

One way to avoid these issues until the new firmware is released is to turn on the Mede8er first and wait about 15 seconds before turning on the TV, otherwise make use of the Component video outputs. This is just an interim workaround - please bear with us for the next few weeks.

@ricardo, please advise what your make & model of TV is so that the HDMI compatibility with this new SDK can be ascertained.

Hi Insomniac

My HDMI's don't connect to my TV they connect to my Sony 2400es Receiver which then connect to my Sony Bravia 40" LCD

So it could have the same handshake issue as with the TV its not really a big issue it does not happen every time and a reboot of the Mede8er sorts it out so I am not really concerned about it.
Just letting you know that I have the issue that's all

Cheers

Thanks

That sounds great! I guess you are talking about v1.2.3? But I hope in case of any unknown problems you will be able to have the new firmware available as a christmas present, because lots of the future owners (including myself) will have the Mede8er below the christmas tree.

Just to let you know my Mede8er has started switching itself back on every night now instead of staying off, it was only now and then now it happens everytime, but once I switch it off the second time it stays off, strangely enough my PS3 did the same last night, switched it off and about 15 seconds later it rebooted or switched itself back on, this has never happened to the Playstation before so I dont know if its got to do with connecting with the HDMI cable?

I believe that this is being caused by the HDMI signals.
We await a firmware update which updates the HDMI handshakes and is expected to resolve the rebooting issue.

Hi

I’ve just recently bought my Mede8er and put it through its paces, what a great product.
I haven’t upgraded the firmware yet as I have a few questions. My firmware version is V1.2.1, my question is, do I need to install V1.2.2 before V1.2.2a or can I just go straight to V1.2.2a. If this is the case then would it be advisable for me to wait for V1.3 as I hear that there will be folder password protection added. This is the only feature that I am really waiting for. Does the latest firmware carry all the changes from the first revision to the current revision? Can you please give me a link for the change log from V1.2.1 to V1.2.2 or a change log from the first firmware revision to the latest firmware revision?

Thanks

Hi Flash,

Each firmware version will be a full install, i.e. they are not incremental.
So you don't need to install each version to get up to date - the firmware version that you install will include all previous updates and features.

If you are not experiencing any issues and you're happy to stay with the default firmware then that is perfectly OK, but if you are experiencing any problems then it would be best to install the latest version before reporting to determine whether this has been overcome, as that will be the only version supported.
What I am getting at is this - don't post issues or bugs about old firmware - they will only be addressed if they present an issue in the latest available firmware.

The change-logs for each version are generally in the first post of each firmware release thread found in this downloads board.

As far as waiting for the next firmware release, this will still be another week or so - aiming for the end of next week but this is only if no serious issues are picked up.

Hi guys i am new here only have had my mede8er for a month now it is a awesome little box I love it
I Updated the firmware to the latest version you released 18 Nov 09 it did fix a lot of bugs like internet radio ect
But it still seems the nas server is a little buggy
I am running XP Pro SP3 on my machine
It seems to loose the NAS randomly and I have to switch NAS on and OFF it works again reading on the forum the NAS
does seem to be a issue on this device hopefully there will be a stable fix soon it did the same thing with the firmware it came V1.1
It is a very weird fault sometimes the NAS works for days fine the other times I have to turn NAS on and of a couple of times
a day to get it working to copy my content can be a little of a pain sometimes
Other than that it is a great device
Keep up the awesome work Guys
thank

Quick question. Is the rar version of the firmware always smaller than the zip? But both contain the same firmware? The rar is bandwidth-friendlier? Smiley
