HDD not visible
« on: March 29, 2024, 11:22:51 AM »
Tried to use my Med1000x3d last week and could not see the hdd installed since new and original setup, been running fine ever since setup many years ago. Original 1tb hard drive and no idea about partitions etc so doubt I would have created anything like this by mistake.

I usually copy new data via the usb ports at the rear and sometime connect via the blue usb cable to delete or rename which I find works quicker this way.

Never had any issues, now when I plug it into the pc, it gives usb device not recognised message too.

Also notice the buttons on top don’t respond, only the remote switches it on. Have to pull the power cable out to get it to shutdown now.

Any ideas how to find the hdd somehow if the pc does not even find the device ?

Clearly the HDD has been corrupted somehow if the pc cannot 'see' it.

A quick search of Google and this comes up:

Here's how to check your hard drive health on Windows by doing an HDD test or S.M.A.R.T. test: Type cmd or command into the taskbar search field and click Command Prompt to open the Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt, type in wmic diskdrive get status and press Enter.

See what that reports.

Ok, so took it to a pc ,guy, hdd is fine. He reset and loaded the most recent software’ he could find.
My folders all are visible that I created, but are all empty.
Plugged into pc again and h drive properties clearly shows there is a lot of data on the drive and this seems about right for what I had stored on it.
So seems like the data is still there but something is not allowing it to show in the folders.
Also noticed it won’t let me scan the drive for errors too.
Any further ideas.
