There are a number of old posts on this forum about internal Hard Drives with some saying that 4TB is the max. I don't want a networked system, I just want to keep my Mede8er alive with an internal HDD, so I'm looking for updates / feedback from anyone who's been running their player with 8tb or larger hard drives over a long period.
To kick things off, I fitted a 6tb Western Digital white label HDD (pulled from a WD my book) 3 years ago, and it's filled to capacity with Audio - flac/MP3, & Movies / TV series - ISO + MKV. Over the last 3 years with almost daily use, no spin down, and the power switched off every night, it's been ultra-reliable, freezing only twice, less than my dell laptop. Perhaps newer drives are less demanding and run cooler allowing for more capacity capability?
I'm thinking of fitting a 8tb WD Red HDD which seems to be the best suited. Any info. on this would be greatly appreciated, if we can fit bigger hard drives, and use TV rename, we can keep these wonderful little devices going for a few more years.
