I'm figuring out TG at the moment and I have to say so far I'm really impressed. I really like it  ;D

I'm experimenting with different templates now and I would love to combine 2 templates made by Pintasss into 1.

I would like to use this template:

But instead of the livingroom background I would like to use a full fanart background as used here:

Is there anybody who can tell me how I can make this work? I've tried dragging and dropping the backdrops into the moviesheet but this doesn't seem to have any effect. Is there a setting in TG wich has to be changed or do I need to adjust the XML file?

You need to modify the XML. First template has a hardcoded value for the Background. You must replace it with a reference to %BACKGROUND%. For example SourceData="%PATH%\back.jpg" gets replaced by SourceData="%BACKGROUND%"

ThumbGen app has no influence about HOW the final image looks like; it just provides WHAT will be displayed. The template decides HOW.

@Thumbgen:

I thought it had to be something like that. I allready looked into the xml file but I didn't know what needed to be modified. I'll give your option a try.

@ Stijn:

Thanks for the offer. It can't hurt to try more templates to find the best one. If you could upload it to megaupload that would be great!

Are u asking me? :)  I have no idea how the firmware is implemented and where it wants the files :)

There are 2 options IMHO:

1)
-movie folder
-- video_ts folder
--- blabla.vob
--- about.jpg
--- folder.jpg

OR

2)
- movie folder
-- video_ts folder
-- about.jpg
-- folder.jpg

Prepare manually structures like above and see which one is expected by mede8er.

option 1 works fine, but i always have to go into the video_ts folder then, instead of the main folder where i can see all movies with a cover (so this wont work)

option 2 works only with one movie, so i guess thats just luck.. all others are picked random...

so neither work :((((

As expected... AFAIK the ACRyan POHD has same issue. The firmware must support a smarter way to treat TVShows... or to offer a sort of jukebox solution (like Yamj). TG then can be used to provide images for this solution...

I never used Yamj... if it supports TV Shows... give it a try! ACRyan users have a Tvixie2playonhd app that can use ThumbGen files together with Yamj. Don't know more details, you must check their forums

i dont need support for TVshows (that was somebody else) i just want to make it work with dvdfiles...

like

c:\movies\blade\folder.jpg
c:\movies\blade\about.jpg
c:\movies\blade\video_ts\blbalbalba (here are the movie files)
c:\movies\blade\audio_ts\empty

like that above, it doesnt work, only with one movie i get it working

if do :

c:\movies\blade\video_ts\folder.jpg
c:\movies\blade\video_ts\about.jpg
it works but then i dont see the cover when browsing through my maps at c:\movies

Sorry..can't help u with that. The firmware must support DVD folder structures or at least it should be able to load an image specific to a movie (not just a generic about.jpg)

Yamj with Yamj to Mede8er does not have this problem.

With a structure like this:
- moviename
----Video_TS (and here the vob and ifo files in)

It will create an about.jpg and folder.jpg in the moviename folder.
Read the  Mede8er 400X/500X Beginners Guide
or Mede8er 500X2/400X2/450X2 Beginners Guide

Also check the Couto X3D Newbies Guide first.

Please don't PM me but post on the forum.

so with yamj, you can put the about and folder name into for ex:

d:\movies\moviename\... (here)
and the movie itself in:
d:\movies\moviename\video_ts\ files....
and it will show all covers when browsing c:\movies\ ????
and when i press the pause button, the same movie shown in about will start to run?

you tested this?

I am still confused about the DVD structure requirements.

TG places the file automatically here:

d:\movies\moviename\... (here)
