After upgrading from 2.01 to 2.02 I am no longer able to access shares on my WHS.
I will be downgrading to 2.01 to see if it clears up.

Try to remap your shares using the short cut method.

I  too have a windows Home Server (HPMedia Smart) and from  2.0.1 I  was able to  create a shortcut and access my  shares,   since the 2.02 it accepts the credentials but will not see shares,  UPNP is flaky at best as well.   I took the firmware back to the 2.01 and everything worked a treat, but if I upgrade, my WHS shares are lost.

I also might add, I  it won’t save the “Video System” setting  each time I  shut its own then bring it back up I  have to  reset that  setting.

This isn’t a matter of passing bad credentials or having to reset them back up,  it’s easy  to  set back up, it just  simply doesn’t work any longer,

Also with the new firmware I tossed in a 160GB (f/w 2.0.2) drive to see if the settings needed to be stored on the HDD since everyone seems to be having HDD issues and it will not format it. I tried taking it back to the old firmware and the HDD is seen but now won’t format it…..

Please Help!  Smiley

-Malice

PS: i am back to  the 2.0.1 f/w

Hi Malice,

I have been trying to determine this issue - it's a little difficult to recreate.
You are saying basically that your shares 'disappear' - can you still see the workgroup and networked PCs?
I don't think anything was changed between version 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 that could have any influence on this issue.

A few questions to clarify your situation:

Are you logging in using your PC login credentials?
Does this login have 'full' access rights?
 Have you tried 'guest' access?
Have you since been able to format your drive?
Have you tried wiping the drive and reformatting it - does it have the required hidden Swap and Linux partitions?

Perhaps provide a photo as you suggested of what you see (or don't see).

I experience same issue with Windows 2003 server. With 2.01 I see shares via shortcut method, with 2.02 shares are gone.

Strange

I have to admit it worked at first time I updated from 2.01 to 2.02 but after building in a harddrive and going through the process of dowgrading to 1.22 in order to format and updating again to 2.02 the shares suddenly dissapeared. I have tried different accounts en retyped passwords / usernames few times to exclude typos. After going back from 2.02 to 2.01 the shortcut method worked again. I remain on 2.01 until something better comes around.

Next to building in harddrive I enabled FTP and NAS. (so basically these were all the changes)

In detail:

In 2.02
In this version I can see the computername in the workgroup from both my Vista PC as Windows 2003 server .. When I choose my Vista PC I can see shares and when I click one of them it prompts me for usn/pwd so normal behaviour. When I choose the Windows 2003 machine shares are not vissible. The shortcut method does not show any shares on 2003 while login succeeds.

In 2.01
Behaviour is identical to 2.02, so still no shares visible on 2003 but visible on Vista. The shortcut method connecting to 2003 works fine however and shows all the shares.

Hope you can find out what this is!

Thanks!

I also have the same problem with my shares on a windows home server.
With firmware version 2.01  no problems, but after updating to version 2.02 i don't see my shares anymore.
After reinstalling version 2.01 everything works fine again.

Is there a solution fot this problem jet Huh

I too have the same issues with 2.02 and Windows 2003 Enterprise Edd.

I select network browse my domain and see my computers connect to a vista computer I get asked for a user and password and all is fine,  connect to 2003 server and it enters the name with no request for user id and pass and shows nothing.

If i set a shortcut up with a user id and password I can operate as normal,  then if I browse the computer again via network even tho I have logged in it once it still shows nothing.

NFS working fine & UPnP working fine.
