Any current source for 1000X3D wifi options?
« on: December 24, 2017, 02:04:44 AM »
Does anyone have info on where one might acquire an available wifi solution for the 1000X3D?  Been running happily on GbE since I bought it but I'd like to relocate the Mede8er to a secondary TV where I don't have Ethernet available.

The answer is probably the same as here:

The big issue is once you have got used to streaming high bitrate  via lan cable, inbuilt wi-fi will be a let down. It's only 150n in both directions...300n is bit of a lie.
The best wi-if solutiin is a good router in bridge mode. Place it where the med is going and connect via gbit cable.
This is where having an AC modem router helps. Your typical ISP modem router has rubbish wi-fi.

Thanks for the prompt response!  Yeah, was hoping for a usable on-board wifi option.  I have a good AC Router (TP Link) as sidestepped my provider's ActionTec -- which isn't terrible, but it's not terribly good, either.  ;-)

I can add a local router in bridge mode, then.  A little more cumbersome, but not a show-stopper.  There are, of course, other options as well, all more expensive that what the wireless adapter might have been, but I can make it work.  The Mede8er has been such a rock solid 1080p media player that it's worth breathing some life into extending its use on a secondary TV.  Plays well with my Plex/Plex Open Home Theatre library, too, so I'm pretty well vested in keeping it around.

Thanks again for the response.. and, I have to say, it's pretty amazing to see this community still active and posting.  Most products this age would have dead forums by now, imo and general experience.

Best Regards

You might consider getting a better main router in the sales, and use the TP link in bridge mode, if it has it.
