Send it back. If you bought it thinking it was 2017 technology you will have endless frustrations. Only those who want an additional player should get them. And in my opinion they should now be classed as surplus stock by retailers, sold cheaply with no support.

All i want to do is watch and store movies, the same with family photos and videos. As a moderator are you an employee of Mede8er? Technical support?

This is a User Forum. The Mods are experienced users with a Systems background. We can raise issues with Sanji if important enough.

The issue is as people upgrade around it, it has issues connecting to modern equipment. PC's , USB enclosures...all have issues. It really isn't worth the hassle if you have just got it.

The suggested workaround when use blue cable slave mode is hot dock. Turn on, then plug in the blue cable.

To connect like a USB Enclosure the blue socket is used, not the black ones. Hot Docking means power up the player before connecting by the blue socket and cable.

Mede8er are brand of Sanji Electronics based in South Africa. They are only an OEM who gets products made in China to their specification.  They have not had any made in two years.  The X3D is five years old!

It sounds like  the 1186 chip doesn't like working with your PC.

You have formatted the drive using the player GUI? This should be done twice as the first just erases the Partition System if it's the wrong one.

And you have moved the player to the PC and have it no longer using HDMI?

These instructions are in the  online Manuals and guides. Some do think it must be plug'n'play and must do what a reasonable person might expect. It doesn't!

The point is drives are weight. Sanji ship them without drives. Unformatted drives are then fitted on arrival in each country.
