MP3 Playback
« on: November 29, 2012, 01:40:58 PM »
Just before I spend my money on one of these, can anyone tell me how good it is for music playback. Not only the quality but also the interface for finding music, playlist support and anything else.

The 1186 codec chip is better than the 1185 in my opinion..as is the conversion to PCM for SPDIF.

Unfortunately being designed for video a buffer between sequential items of media was not part of the design. Who cares if their is small delay between two movies. So gapless music is still not possible.

Forgive me mates, this seems to be a related topic about mp3 and audio playback issues? I also have a similar question and may i ask. Recently i downloaded a DSS audio file but it couldn't be played in vlc or windows media player. So I downloaded a audio converter as you can see (www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/convert-dss-to-mp3.html) to convert DSS to mp3. However, in the course of conversion, it required me to preset bit rate and sample rate. I do not know what these two parameters refer to and what the differences are? What values should i preset? Does anybody may give me any suggestions?

Sample rate is either CD or DVD, that is 44100 or 48000. For music stick to 44100. MP3 is lossy. If compressing CD the higher the better....320. If converting low quality then that won't make it any better. So stick to 128.
