Movie Scraper Not Working?
« on: February 22, 2017, 01:40:44 AM »
Hi,

For the last few days the Movie Scraper has not been working for me. It doesn't pick up any movie info/covers etc at all. I know my Mede8er is connected to the internet so I'm pretty sure that's not the problem.

is it not working for anyone else? Is it broken?

I just scraped a film, and everything worked fine for me.
I used the internal scraper.

More and more overloaded services are switching to cloudflare's free distributed proxy service. It means every user has their own connecting issues, as we see with opensubs. Realtek chips are intolerant of DNS issues that creates. Nothing we can do about it.

Jerry that does not help the ones that have trouble with it much. Can we on our user side do something about it. Like change or add another dns server. If some users still can scrape and others apparently not. I assume there is something different in the Mede8er or network setup.

Great that helped. Changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8. and scraping worked again.
In most (if not all) my other devices I have 8.8.8.8 as secondary DNS. Kodi/Librelec even has three DNS options. Why has Mede8er just one option for DNS?

My best guess it's for a link to DNS proxy. A proxy can have as many DNS servers as you like. Acrylic allows the full 8. A bit of overkill there.

The proxy most people use is their router, which has two dns servers set.  You only have a proxy in the router if DHCP allocates a single DNS IP, the routers, to ipv4 on a PC or Mac.
