Been checking up the characteristics of real upsampling CD players. The generation which only manages 4X upsampling use  130db Stop Band Attenuation. I input that , and the post ringing on the impulse graph shortens significantly. In tests it sounds better to me.

2 x upsamplers use 80 db, 8 x upsamplers 190 db.  The higher the target frequency, the higher the stop band attenuation can go without causing excessive impulse resonance.

FoobarDMR now has 108db attenuation for 2 x upsampling, and 138db for SACD conversion.

P.S. filters are designed using what are called Windows. The standard Kaiser Windows specifies ripple, and stop band attenuation comes out of the calculation. Indian filter engineers produced a window where the reverse happens. You specify stop band attenuation, and ripple is the uncontrolled output. Looks like Resampler V is using that window, not kaiser.   It is easier to emulate real upsampling cd players with the indian window.

I tried foobar with active DSP Resampler-V from  ASIO throught my headphones AKG 701 and for me is listenning with active DSP Resampler-V audibly better than without it.

I have upgraded the build to start foobar with a vbs script. So instead of foobar.bat use foobar.vbs.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ta7n2ydgetkvg0/foobarvbs.zip?dl=0

The script will force the output to first DMR found after Primary Sound Device, and then close Properties. You must have the X3D running before using the script. It works using Remote Desktop and client audio set too off. If not, there are too many Audio Devices in the output list and the DMR isn't selected.

I have also added the monkeymote library. Foobar can now be controlled via one of it's clients.

https://www.monkeymote.com/home

It's much better than using Remote Desktop.

Too automate the process further... create a new local account called X3D. Log in, and locate the foobar folder. Create a desktop shortcut for foobar.vbs.  Copy said shortcut, and place in this folder

C:\Users\X3D\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Now create a Remote Desktop login to user X3D. Whenever that user logs in, the foobar vbs script is run.

I have added the last posts as Option B in the top post.
