Very bad stuttering playing movies
« on: December 07, 2016, 09:45:12 pm »

Hi,
I have a QNAP TS-453A with two 6TB WD red drives. I don't know what the raid setting is called but i am using it as maximum capacity.

The stuttering started after I had a message saying the drive was full. I checked and it still has 1.something free space and I deleted some films I didn't want.

Can anyone suggest any tests I can do to get to the bottom of it. I have tried so far is playing via NFS and ethernet.

Thanks for any help

Graham

Are you trying to play the movies you loaded just before it said it was full? They will be heavily fragmented, and deleting old files won't get rid of that. You must defrag the raid build.

Thanks for the reply. I believe old movies that did play as well as the new ones are stuttering. I will try a couple more and report back
