Hi,
Just from a personal perspective.
I purchased a 500X many years ago, fast forward to now and I have three Mede8ers in my home and around eight of my friends now have Mede8ers (which I look after). Over the years I have ripped a selection of movies (3D and normal) from my bluray collection which I keep on them. The Mede8ers do the job that is intended of them and they do it well. I can download .srt subtitles from the internet (if required). I can scrape all the movie info from the internet. I pretty much know everything (I need) to know about the machines for my requirements (and I'm NOT a techie person). What I love most is the slick way they operate (I think that's why my friends have all purchased them), the fact they can all come to me with their Mede8er problems and I also think this is a fantastic Forum with all the helpful Members. It's not often I cannot get an answer to a question within a couple of days of posting.
With regards to 4K, I genuinely believe the company are working on it, but obviously there are certain factors involved (that we will not be aware of) e.g. suitable cost effective chip manufacture that may determine the possible production of a 4K player.
One last point regarding 4K. For many years I have used a Panasonic 55VT50 1080p T.V. which has worked
superbly with a selection of Mede8ers. A couple of weeks ago I purchased (second hand) a 65" L.G. Oled EV6 T.V. When I play 1080p movies via the Mede8er, the L.G. upscales the movies (not to 4K definition) to something between 1080p and 4K. Watching the movies is a revelation and a totally different experience to the Panasonic 55VT50. It's like having a complete new set of movies. For me, this will suffice until Mede8er produce a 4K player.
There are not many products in my home that are purchased due to 'brand loyalty', but in regards to Mede8er products I am guilty of that. Sorry if my bias offends any of the more frustrated Forum members but it's just how I feel about these products.
Chris
p.s. Any members struggling in the U.K. London area, I would be more than happy to help.
