Mede8er MED600X3D … and suddenly raw disk
« on: September 03, 2017, 05:16:11 PM »
Hi!
Obtained Mede8er MED600X3D and thought now I can play videos from (USB) disk I have. Run movie from VIDEO_TS folder. Seems to ok. I stopped film … and switched Mede8er off. Later I switched Mede8er on and tried to proceed with suspended video, but … device didn’t recognize disk. Odd. Then I put this disk behind computer and … Windows show disk have RAW format. … What a hell! Never had anything directly to do with this kind of format. Now, one question I must solve is how can I recover my data (seems to no easy way), but another (presented here) question is how this could happen with Mede8er!? I didn’t … do anything special. Surprised, must admit. Not in good way.
Any ideas?
More thanks, Alar.

Realtek expect loss of usb power to instigate a shutdown by the drive. There is no explicit dismount and shutdown sequence that some usb drives may require.

Hi and thanks!
Well, then – when I understood correctly – it’s by design, meaning … ruining (sometimes) USB disks? Anyway, Realtek or not, but … can this kind of happening to be avoided in some certain sure way? I can’t afford losing terabytes of info, no-one can, I suppose. As I obtained this device via web I have time to return it, I’m not keen to, but if there is no other way … I must, sorry to admit.
More thanks, Alar.

Hi!
You suggesting it’s something wrong with particular disk? Sure, could be. Actually, don’t worry, you can’t buy it anymore – it is Iomega eGo (Samsung something inside) and working … some years for now wo any problems on many different devices, still does. I have not any reason to not recommend this disk, at this own time. Also, at this very moment – disk itself seems to be ok (restoring data right now from RAW format), when done I’ll do re-anything on it. Yeah, can’t understand why (and how) this format loss could happen.
With best, Alar.
