The tools have not changed since 2013.
The older models processor's limit the life expectancy of the devices.
With H265 becoming more mainstream, older models are heading for the bin.
Manual media management is a thing of the past. Lets look to the future.
Breath life into the old units by opening up the units to be able to run as clients attached to servers.
Bring out a Plex client firmware / OS.
Bring out an XBMC firmware / OS.
or others ...
Im sure the bright people will now comment on whats possible and whats not.
Just will be sorry to see older units go into the bin without exploring the possibilities.

at this point, my next media player will not be a Mede8ter ..
I have loved it for so long and still use it, but its time for change as the world has changed.
There are so many more possibilities, and locking myself into a proprietary, closed development system is not what I plan for my next media center / player.

At least Mede8er1 dont cheat their customers investing/selling new players that behave like Crap...like Zapitti, chinese Android Boxes, or cloudmedia that abandoned their boxes 6 months later after their release just to cash in.

Nvidia Shield IMO is the best Android Box in the market, its has a future proof Hardware and good firmware team development between Google/plex/Nivdia/Kodi.

Nvidia pays 10.000$/year to Kodi.org to be a gold member and update Kodi APP and be compatible with the shield and still kodi at the moment dont even have a android developer, and the alternative is to use SPMC for Koying.

The shield is proprietary and closed development system and is a huge success.

When you mean "compatible" do you mean support for hardware codecs? The Arm chips have a fantastic hardware video chip, but the kodi builds just have ported software codecs that run on the cpu.
