I have the same problem.
And I bought the mede8er just to play DTS-HD Master Audio
Is this a firmware problem?

The MED450X2S fully supports DTSMA so your problems are somewhere else. Pls post more details of your setup and equipment used.

The unit is connected to a Pioneer lx70 which supports dtsma.
I tried connecting it to the end of the hdmi cable which is normally connected to my bluray player.
Tried both local (via sub) and off the lan (from desktop and QNAP nas).
It only sends core Dolby and dts.
Dtsma encoded are silent.
Only if I change the hdmi settings from pass through to lpcm does it work (stereo only).
This leads me to understand the dtsma format is not supported...

The player is edid driven and will only output what the edid says is supported by the amp.

1) Create a folder with name "hdmi_test_dora129.3" on a USB stick (in the root), and plug it into Mede8er
2, Connect the Mede8er to AMP/TV, > (please use HDMI), and set the audio mode of Mede8er to (HDMI passthrough)
3, Enter the Home Page on the Mede8er and ENTER number '1025'
4, You will see messages displayed on the TV, and a file will be written to the folder "hdmi_test_dora129.3" on usb disk.

Another way todo it  (Tested with X3 FW 7 sept 2012):
1) Create a folder with name "hdmi_test_dora129.3" on a USB stick (in the root), and plug it into Mede8er
2, Connect the Mede8er to AMP/TV, > (please use HDMI), and set the audio mode of Mede8er to (HDMI passthrough)
3, Now play a movie on the Mede8er and ENTER number '0'
4, Now you will see that the usb stick starts flashing and writing the dump in the dora folder. Wait some minutes before unplugging the usb stick, don't pull it when it is still flashing

I tried again. No html...  :o
The amp was on.

I should note that only "1025" when in the main menu works.
If I am playing a file, and press "0", I get w blue x on the screen upper left - and nothing happens

----
BTW, I am working on V305, downloaded from http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,16237.0.html
In the HDMI passthrough settings, I have "don't care"; AC2; True HD

There is no option for DTS HD 7.1

In order to do a EDID test you will need to install older firmware as this functionality is not available in the new firmware releases.

Pls install

www.mede8er.org/beta/Firmware_Final/MED500X2/Mede8er_X2_V2.0.0_18Nov2011.zip

You can install the latest version once you have dumped the EDID info.

The EDID shows that your amp VSX-LX70 supports DTSMA and Dolby True HD (MLP) so it should play no problem. Make sure you set the Audio Setup --> Surround Sound --> TrueHD/DTS-HD7.1 and set the HDMI Output to HDMI Passthrough. I see you say you are not seeing the 'TrueHD/DTS-HD7.1' setting and this is very strange. Did you install the firmware by 'Emergency' procedure?

Try this sample clip with DTSMA

The unit came with 3.4 out of the box.
It only showed TrueHD, and my receiver remained silent when playing dtsma files.

I changed fw using the Usb upgrade option in the misc menu to upgrade to 3.5

Current version is the 2.0 you provided.

On all these versions, dtsma is not part of the sound options :(
In fact, my settings remained, and there was no change at all in the menu options throuout the versions. Only the main wallpaper changed.

Will download the demo clip and try

Pls update firmware with Emergency procedure only.

Emergency Procedure
Use a USB Stick that is formatted fat32 in Windows PC. If you have any difficulty we suggest you format the USB stick with the HP Utility - https://docs.google.com/a/mede8er.com/file/d/0B_SDrpPD4AxPaEF0NUVRcU5WSmc/edit
Download the latest Mede8er Firmware from www.mede8erforum.com. UnZIP or UnRAR or join with HJ Split and will find one file named install.img. Copy this file to the root directory of a Flash Drive. Plug the flash drive into the Mede8er. Unplug the power to the X2. Plug the power jack back in and then hold the ON/OFF button on the Mede8er (not the remote) down for 15sec and then release. After the firmware has been checked (+-5-10sec) it will start to update. You will see the update progress on your TV.  Do not remove power during the Firmware Update procedure .

There is no explicit option for dts-ma. The player is a codec switching device. Setup should say "DD & DTS" or "True HD & DTS-MA". You are selecting if you want  SD core or full HD.
