For those who don't use the internal scraper of the Mede8ers, does anyone know how to set thumbgen to generate proper trailer links to the new Movie Trailers sites?  Where is this linking to?

Haven't installed yet, just checking in beforehand.

i use thumbgen for the movie about.jpgs. After u created them u can just add trailers from the mede8er itself. Thumbgen cant generate the links itself. And as u might have noticed thumbgen is eol(end of life) and is not being updated anymore so dont expect such a feature in the future :)

Dear Devs

I have just removed all the files eg xml, jpg's etc and just re-scraped my movies. The T for Trailers appears top right but when I click it, a black screen appears and then displays the play window with graphics BUT it doesnt play the trailer. It just stops.

Please see attached screenshots

Cheers

Hi jer1956,

Thanks for the pointer, I will check my settings. I assume it's as easy as that.
Thank you for the quick reply.

Unfortunately, changing the setting to either one of the 10 second settings just gives me a black screen now. Not even getting the original play trailer screen.

Any ideas?

It may  be a symptom of the general issue of stale DNS after a firmware upgrade.   Try powering cycling everything on the LAN, and experiment with a different DNS server IP in the players setup.

for the trailer i finally manage get it to work locally

i notice that the trailer icon displayed anyway even if there is no trailer presented .

also the trailer doesn't support mkv  . i use mp4 instead .

there is only one thing i might not get it right the naming for the trailer . what is the best way .

MovieName-trailer.ext        i used this one based on what member said here in forum

Hi jer1956,
please can you send me a link to the post "Change the Trailer Timeout setting", as I must be blind as a bat and cannot find it. I even did a 'search' for it and all I get is your reference to it. Sorry to be a pain, but I am getting the same problem as others. I loaded 4.02, scraped all my movies and then went to favourites and added trailers. Now when I try to get a film trailer, the word loading (in blue) appears in the top left hand corner of the screen and following that a small blue question mark, but no trailer (I set the trailer timeout to 10 seconds).
Thanks
Chris
p.s. I did change to jukebox mode to get three rows of movie jpg's per screen.

I too have a problem with the latest firmware update. I loaded 4.02, scraped all my movies and then went to favorites and added trailers. Now when I try to get a film trailer, the word loading (in blue) appears in the top left hand corner of the screen briefly and then just a blank screen, I do not even get the play icon as others appear to get. I have tried setting the trailer timeout to 10 seconds and I have even down a complete power down of my network to clear any stale DNS problems. Everything else works fine including Youtube and all the internet options on the Mede8er.
So as I appear to not be the only one with this problem, then you have a problem with the update.

There is some issue with Safari playing trailers. We have asked the trailer host site why.

I do not see how Safari is the cause of my problem as I am streaming from my Windows Home Server V1.0. Before the recent problem with trailers, due to YouTube changes, I used to be able to use the trailer function perfectly, not that I have used it much anyway and now I cannot anyway. To me it is no great loss, but I thought I had better mention the problem I have which might help other users and for Mede8er to hopefully fix it.

The old Youtube xml segment is now ignored. You would have to mod the new xml segment to point at a local trailer server.

I have no idea what you are talking about and how to do it, so I will not bother, but thanks for your help anyway.

Local trailer and extras does not work on the jukebox+ (aggregated jukebox).
When it is fixed?

One solution for aggregation and local trailers is to create a local trailer server on the Network.  I have checked that the concept still works with the new trailer xml.  Tools to automate its creation where requested via Wanted!, but it didn't raise any interest.
