when will be realeased? no, no clue! it depend of realtek support.
i'm not sure about this issue with your 2TB hdd will be resolved. only a true test can tell more. this issue is refering at hdd time mounting, your hdd maybe need more time to mount and mede8er dont wait how much.
solving this it will be reflected in medee8r boot up speed.
this is only a ideea, my ideea, like a suposition. try my reply #51.

I have been following this thread closely because I have the same hardware as tama1974: newly bought wd 2tb hard disk and 2.02 firmware on the med8er.
I formatted the hard disk with windows xp. When I installed it in the mede8er, i could not play anything. The mede8er would hang and restart. Also, my pc sees the mede8er's the wd 2tb as USB1 instead of HDD1.
After realizing that I need to format the hard disk with the mede8er, I removed it to move the media files to another hard disk. When I put the wd 2tb back in, the format menu says HDD1 and HDD2, but are greyed out, and cannot be selected. So I turned it off, and unplugged the power cord. I left it that way for a few hours to do other stuff.
Then I went to this forum and read about downgrading the firmware. When I was ready to try this method, I went to turn on the mede8er, and waited for a while for the NAS to turn on. Then I went to the system menu to check the firm ware. Then I went to the format menu (just to check if its ok), and there it was. The HDD1 was now selectable.
I did not do anything else, and was able to do this without downgrading. I have no idea why it worked. I guess I just got lucky. But I am posting my results here so people would know that the mede8er DOES WORK with the WD 2TB caviar green hard disk.
I read in another thread that these "green" hard disks have slow startup issues. So the mede8er may not detect them. I don't know if this is true, but maybe letting the mede8er sit for a while before accessing the format menu might help others with the same problem?
just my 2 cents, spycemed

Hi spicemet,
the problem i have is, that i see UNKNOWN under Free Space and if i copy DATA/MEDIA to the HDD i only can see them when connected to the PC but not in the Mediathek.
Which Firmware you have installed and under which Firmware you have formated the HDD?

Hi spycemed,
The problem you describe is different. It is just a bug in firmware 2.0.2 that it is not able to format from the mede8er setup when there is no partition info on it (blank disc). Because you placed it in your PC to format and make a partition on it, this solved this and you were able to format. No need to downgrade to 1.2.2a.
The workaround to downgrade to 1.2.2a is mentioned on this forum because it is easier then building out the disk and built in into a pc to put a partition on it.
Just my 2 cents, Maasbommel

Hi Markus, If you see unknown under space in the mede8er setup info menu, this means that format is wrong of the disk. If you have network, I suggest to look at this post to login and wipe the disk with the dd command. Then downgrade to 1.2.2a, format the disk again from mede8er setup and then upgrade to 2.0.2. Always use the FW recovery mode to upgrade/downgrade the firmware. regards, maasbommel

@Maasbommel
That explains it. Now I know why i didn't have to downgrade first. If only there were more explicit notices or warnings on the website. I spent over 2 days filling up the 2tb disk only to find out the mede8er *NEEDS* to format it first 8-)

Hi Maasbommel, what you mean with Network and which post to login and wipe the disk with dd command? I have done a lot of things/steps but nothing works. When i see UNKNOWN in the Mede8er the HDD is accesible from the PC and i also can copy Data over USB but not see them in the Mediathek. At one or two times i see the Data also from Mede8er but after a few hours or days i donīt see them! Regards Markus

what Maasbommel try to say with dd commands is to format hdd under linux commands: fdisk . you'll have to wipe entire disk from the sector 0. see more at: http://linux.about.com/od/commands/l/blcmdl8_fdisk.htmor google. i believe you can do similar, also from comand promt under XP. it depends what system operation do you use. thats why i was recommended you to try FAT32 format. try with PARTITION MANAGER softaware, is very good.

OK. But Linux is not my System, i am a Windows User. On my Laptop i have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed. Is it OK to make a "low level format" of the HDD with a Tool like this http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2006.04.12-HDD-Low-Level-Format-Tool/Or is it better to delete all Partitions with a linux live system like GPARTED? Do i see it right, that it a HDD can also works with V2.0.2 if the HDD is formated with a PC and not with the internal format function and i do not need to dowgrade to 1.2.2a first? Now i am a little bit confused whatīs the problem and the right way to solve it!

It is written in my mede8er beginners guide... Also in the quick manual that comes with the box that it is preferred to format the internal disk from setup menu. Also on the Announcements section... On all new mede8er boxes there should be a sticker to format internal disk first... Most people have the behaviour to first start to play and then when they get stuck they start reading. Don't know a solution how to change that the other way around Just my 2 cents... Cheers, Maasbommel

mede8er will work ok only with a hdd formated by his menu , mede8er menu. it will build several partitions on hdd. fw v2.0.2 have a bug with building those partitions and that's why for a corect formating is the need to downgrade to fw v1.2.2a and format hdd under this fw version. if still dont do those steps that i earlier mention to you it is a must do. after that you can upgrade to v2.0.2.
