Hi together,
today i get my new WD20EADS 2TB HDD and i put into the Mede8er. When i now go to System Setup --> System--> HDD Format i see HDD1 and HDD2 but i cantīt select one.
In the Systeminfo the WD20EADS-32S is visible.
I use the Firmware V2.02 and with the old 80GB 2,5" HDD which i have installed before i have no Problems with formating.
What have i do wrong or what i need to do to get the new 2TB HDD formated with the Mede8er? Can anyone please give me the ToDoīs to get the HDD formated. If i need to downgrade the Firmware please how it works and can i after that and formating go back to the V2.02?
Thanks and Regards
Markus

Hi, I've had the same problem with WD. Try to downgrade to initial FW release (1.2.2 or 1.2.2a ), format the disk, and then go back to FW 2.0.2. That did the trick for me anyway. Hope it'll work

Hi,
i will try it with your way. Is there any chance to store the settings (example WLAN) i have make with the V2.02?
Which WD HDD you have?
I will come back after i have tested it.
In the V2.02 infos i find the following:
NOTE: Once you update to V2 you cannot easily go back to older versions if you are using an internal Hard Drive that was formatted with the Mede8er. The update process will not damage your Hard Drive contents but the Hard Drive will then be shown as HDD1 instead of C. If you are not using an internal Hard Drive than you can roll back to a earlier version without any problems.
Is it a Problem if the HDD will shown as HDD1 and not as C: ?

Hi,
i have the same HDD as you, and it worked. As far as settings backup goes, I believe you can save your settings on usb disk or flash disk (i'm not 100% on this).

My system now also shows HDD1, but I didn't see any downside. I can store my files on it, SAMBA NAS works, and i can connect to mede8er(and his HDD1) from my network. cheers

Hi, the downgrade to 1.22 and then formating HDD works fine. Upgrade to V2.02 again also was OK. Before i downgrade to V1.22 i store the settings and a restore after upgrade to V2.02 again also works. Thanks for your help, now i can move all my files from 3 small external HDDīs to the new bigger internal HDD. Is your internal Fan also to loudly? Is it possible to get a quiet one? Regards Markus

Hi, I'm glad it worked. I know how I felt when I got back with my new HDD, installed it and nothing happened. Wanned to bite my finger off . My Mede8er is in the cabinet below TV, I can hear it when it's really quiet (like constant hum), but when I watch movies it's not noticable. Bye

Guys, I advise to read the mede8er beginners guide, this small bug was also mentioned in there. Just to prevent you run out of fingers... Cheers and lot of fun with your new toy regards, Maasbommel

There is some thing in between at the moment, YAMJ in combination with YAMJ to Mede8er program...
But let's see what the future will bring....

Yes thanks. I'm using that solution. But, like something's missing . Let's hope for the future. Other than that really great piece of kit.

Hi,
what do i need to do, if i want to use FileManager to copy things from USB to Internal HDD?
On the left i select the Source Folder and want to copy it to the Destination (root of internal HDD). Which Button on the Remote Control starts the Copy? If i connect the Mede8er with USB to my Laptop he needs to much time for copying. I want to try if it is faster when i copy from USB to internal HDD.
Thanks
Markus

I find it ! I must use the select and then the right Button. What is faster for copying Data to the Medi8er? Directly USB to Mede8er or via PC? Markus

both methods should be the same . maybe quicker with PC
that depend on your pc resorts, the level of PC disk fragmentation, memory that is in use at that moment.
i have a usb flash disk at 8Gb , when transfer files from him to mede8er hdd takes around 8-9 minutes, maybe less or more never stand for counting.
transfer rate should be at max 12Mb/s at usb 2.0

Hi,
after 1 day i have copied all my Data to the internal HDD.
Now i want to sort it, but i only see 1 Folder but not the second one. If i check the used space of the hdd, i see that there must be a second folder because the complete use is more then the folder i can see.
Itīs the same if i connect the Mede8er to the PC.
If i want to create a folder with the name of the second not visible folder i get the message that a folder with this name still exist.
In my Windows Explorer i have set that i can see everything.
Did anyone have an idea? I donīt want to copy everything again! :-)
I hope you understand what i mean. My english is not the best! ;-)
Thanks and Regards
Markus
