Hi Mede8ers,

Please be advised that the Mede8er techs would like to bring the following compatibility issue with respect to the MED500X to our attention.
They advise that a HDMI issue with the Philips TV PFL 5403 has been picked up - the screen goes green and top and bottom is cut off.
A workaround until such time as the issue is resolved would be to use the Component video outputs.

We have tested other Philips TV models that were available in store and they worked fine. The HDMI issue seems to be related to one specific model and we are gathering information that that will be passed onto Realtek for diagnosis. We will test the Mede8er with all Philips TV models that are available In South Africa and post the results on the forum soon.

Hello,

I haven't seen this topic before, but i recently experienced a similar problem. I started a new topic on this in the technical issues area (occasional color problem with fw 2.0 / 2.01).  It is not exactly the same but reading about the 'green screen' i suspect it to be a related problem. My problem occured after installing FW2.0 and it persisted in FW 2.01. I had no problem with FW1.02. My televisionset is also a philips.
Is there a chance that this will be solved shortly ? Component works fine, but i would prefer to use HDMI....

grtz,
Peter

Hello,

I am also having a HDMI issue since I upgraded from FW 1.2.2a to 2.0.1. Occasionally the screen goes black and when it comes up again the colors are wrong. Sometimes after some seconds the screen goes black again and when it then comes up again everything is fine. When this issue is not automatically correct, I can fix it by unplugging the HDMI cable and putting it back again or going into the setup menu en selecting "HDMI auto" again in the "Video System" option ("HDMI auto" is already the selected entry).

I've never had this problem when I used FW 1.2.2a. It is occuring once in a while. Sometimes the time between this issue is several minutes. But yesterday I watched a 2,5 hour movie and it occured 3 times.

This is my first problem with the Mede8er. Till now I was very happy with it and it plays every movie. I'm sure this issue will be fixed soon in the next FW upgrade.

Hi Steemser,

Have you already checked if it was a 24fps movie your were playing when you saw this?
If yes, was 24HZ mode on or off?

Another thing you could try is re-install 2.0.1 again and be sure to unplug DC power to hard reset your Mede8er.
But could be that you already tried that...

Have you been able to solve the problem ?
I haven't.

Hi Peter,

I already tried the things Maasbommel proposed. But since a couple of days, the problem doesn't occur anymore. I haven't changed any settings. I read about other people having HDMI problems (earlier FW versions) and the advise was to first turn on the Mede8er and after about 15 seconds the TV. I tried this and the problem disappeared. To check wether this was the solution, I turned them on the other way around. And guess ... and again no problems. I can not imagine that that this solved the problem, but at the moment I'm happy with my Mede8er performing without any problems.

If the problem comes back again ... I will post a message.

Since i want to buy several mede8ers (for my kids and myself), I would like to know if the problem with the Philips tv's is solved.

Please could owners of Philips TVs verify whether their Mede8ers are working on them at this time via HDMI?

If so, please provide your model number.

Hi there,

My Philips 37PFL9604H first had this problem worked on FW V2.0.1, but then worked without any problems for a couple of days. But since yesterday this issue is back again. I just installed FW V2.0.2 and so far (after 2 hours) no problem. The issue is not occuring on a regular basis. So I'll have to check/test it for a couple of days. I'll keep you informed.

I use the 32pfl9604h/12 and I never had experienced the problem described above. The 37pfl/9604h/12 used the same software as mine (just a smaller screen size I think). I have used every new firmware on the mede8er so far (now V2.0.2).

These are my (hope relevant) settings of the Mede8er V2.0.2:
Audio: HDMI downmix
Video:
Aspect ratio: 16:9
Brighness, Contrast, hue, and saturation: 25
Digital noice reduction: off
Video system: 1080p 60Hz
AV video system: PAL
1080p 24 Hz: normally OFF (some mkv or BD I turn it on)
Misc: everything off except screensaver and subtitle

Philips:
Software version: q5492-0.26.66.0 van 30/10/2009 (I think it is the same as Software 32PFL9604H/12 version 000.026.066.000 from there website) The mede8er is connected though HDMI 1 on the back with the standard HDMI cable of the mede8er.
In the picture menu:
Noice reduction: medium
Perfect picture HD:
-   Perfect motion: medium
-   100Hz Clear LCD: on
-   Advanced sharpness: on
-   Dynamic contrast: medium
-   Dynamic Background: optimal picture
-   Mpeg artefact reduction: off
-   Colour enhancement: medium
Picture format: automatic
Modus automatic format: auto-fill

On my Philips 42PFL9664 I'm having the same problem.

I'm also hoping that this problem will be fixed in the next firmware...
