Ok maybe the following videos will clear things up.
First, a 3D movie (Need for Speed 3D, 2014) with filename "Need for Speed (2014).mkv"
When I attempt to play this movie, my TV detects that it is an 3D movie and asks to enable the TV's 3D function.

Next, the same 3D movie (Need for Speed 3D, 2014) with filename "Need for Speed (2014).MVC.MKV"
When I attempt to play this movie it starts the movie in the Mede8er 3D function and my TV does NOT detect it is an 3D movie so it does not ask to enable the TV's 3D function.

What I would like to say is that the Mede8er software 3D function / MVC filename tag does not send a "Hello, I am a 3D movie" message to my 3D tv.
Is this how the "MVC" filename function supposed to work?
I think what a lot of people don't realize is that there are several ways to play a 3D movie in the Mede8er (no matter if it's MVC, SBS, TAB):
1. Play a 3D file named Movie.Year.mkv, and the player will
not know that it's 3D. It will not send a 3D signal to the TV. If your TV has 3D auto-detect
enabled, it will then switch to 3D mode and process the 3D itself.
2. Play a 3D file named Movie.Year.SBS/TAB/MVC.mkv, and the player will know that it's 3D. It will send a 3D signal to the TV. If your TV has 3D auto-detect
enabled, it will then switch to 3D mode and let the Mede8er do the 3D processing.
3. Play a 3D file named Movie.Year.mkv, and the player will
not know that it's 3D. It will not send a 3D signal to the TV. If your TV has 3D auto-detect
disabled, it will then
not switch to 3D mode, but rather show the unprocessed side-by-side/top-and-bottom picture. In this case, you can trigger proper 3D by either forcing the TV or the Mede8er into 3D mode manually.
4. Play a 3D file named Movie.Year.SBS/TAB/MVC.mkv, and the player will know that it's 3D. It will send a 3D signal to the TV. If your TV has 3D auto-detect
disabled, it will then
not switch to 3D mode, but rather show the processed side-by-side/top-and-bottom picture, but in 2D mode. In this case, you can trigger proper 3D by forcing the TV into 3D mode manually.
5. If you have a TV like mine, where you have three options for 3D detection (off, 3D signal, 3D picture), it gets even more complicated.
Best thing is to always trigger the Mede8er to process 3D and send the proper signal to the display, whether it detects it automatically or not. I have a feeling that zed85's TV has always done the 3D processing without the Mede8er being in 3D mode.
