Hi,

I'm looking for a PC-based scraper, mostly for movies. I'm aware of YADIS, Y2M etc. but am looking for one with more info on the about.jpg screen. Obviously, it's a combination of a scraper and template: It'd generate:

1. folder.jpg

2. an XML file

3. about.jpg with no Mede8er logo anywhere but with following info:

Link to trailer (local or online)
Background (fanart)
Embedded picture (Disc cover or some such)
Name of Movie
Tagline
Year of Release
Running Time, with logo
IMDB logo
IMDB Rating (Stars)
IMDB Rating
Genre, with logo
Parental Rating, with Logo
Parental Rating Details
Director, with logo
Starring, with logo
Plot Summary
Screenplay
Trailer Link, Local
Edition (Platinum etc.)
Container (Disc) Format, with logo (DVD/BD/BD 3D)
Video Codec, with logo
Resolution, with logo
Aspect Ratio
Framerate
Audio Codec, with logo
Audio Languages, with logo
Audio Channels
Subtitle Languages, with logo
Studio Logo
Country of Origin, Flag
Color PAL/NTSC

Does anything like that exist?

It's gonna be tough to find a template/skin that meets all of your requirements. I settled on the AEON skin for Y2M, which I then customized a little more (see attached).
Sharp LC-70LE857U
Onkyo HT-RC360
Synology DS1813+ & DX513
HTPC running Kodi with MPC-HC + madVR
PLEX for everything else

Figured as much. Looking for anything that nearly approaches it. The information is all available in one template or another, just not in one place.

Also wondering if any of the templates has the functionality of linking to a Trailer, like the official template does.

The linking to the trailer (either the file stored within your collection or the youtube link) is done as an overlay and therefore regardless of the template of your about image, the trailer link will be available. Just make sure you have trailers option on in the setup and ensure you either have the file as a moviename.trailer compatable video file in your specific movie folder or the internet link in the xml file.

Thank you. I've waited for over 7 years for HD and media player technologies to attain certain (in my mind) basic and interoperable capabilities. The next gen, 4K, technology set will take another 7 to 10 years per my calculation to reach the same level of ease-of-use etc.

Mede8er (esp. X3D) meets the requirements for current generation in the best possible way and I'm trying to set it up right.

If I can get a Thumbgen or YADIS template to output all the info I listed in an about.jpg, I'll share that.

The trailer overlay is always put in the same place. So whatever template you use or create has to leave space for it.

That's a great way to do the trailer. Works with all templates. Very nice.

*** This is a ThumbGen template. ***

I created a template to include all that data. Actually, I modified a template I downloaded (Dribbler's, I believe). The only differences from my wishlist above are:

1. Instead of using logo or pictogram, I used words (So, instead of a logo for Director, I used the word "Director")
2. Eliminated the space-consuming IMDB stars, retaining the numerical score
3. ScreenPlay Writer and Edition (Extended, Platinum etc.) information is not available in Thumbgen
4. Color PAL/NTSC information is not available in Thumbgen

So, yeah. All that information will fit in a 1920x1080 frame and the Mede8er will nicely shrink it to 1280x720 and send to the TV which will display it as a 1920x1080 picture. Most of the images used by the template are already included many times over with all the ThumbGen templates on the web; so, I'm not including them here. A sample about.jpg is attached along with the template.

Looks excellent ... probably the best I've seen.

I am using Y2M so a simple question ... how are you generating this?

I added Rotten Tomatoes Top Critics' score to the template. It is being retrieved and populated automatically along with the associated certified/fresh/rotten image.

Will post once I clean everything up.

Moderators,

If it is OK with you, I will

1. Post a link to this topic in the ThumbGen thread

2. Update this thread occasionally when I make improvements

The scraper being developed for use with ThumbGen is now posted as a more free-standing variant in the Software Downloads forum, where it belongs.
