Dear All,
Only a week ago I bought mede8er, it's good. then I join to this forum. There FW 2.0.2 update, i try to update without the internal HD, it can not be updated. Then I try to update to 1.2.2a and it works from  Menu-System Upgrade, until succesfull, and the device restarts. But after the restart only logos that appear mede8er until now. So I can no longer use them. Please help till now on just the logo that appears in the TV screen and the remote was not function.

What i have to do now  ?

sorry for my English..

Hi Winston,

I suggest to update again 1.2.2a from your usb stick, but then NOT use the menu option but FW recovery mode:
1. power off your mede8er
2. put usb stick in upper usb port with the firmware file in the root of the stick
3. power on your mede8er by pressing power on button and keep it pressed for 10 secs. Then release
4. mede8er will start updating, wait until it is finished
5. when finished your mede8er will boot up again. When in the menu just go directly to the video setup and set it to a fixed HDMI setting, so don't use HDMI Auto

good luck with this steps, and let us know if you were succesfull with this steps to solve your problem.

Because you downgraded, you should have used emergency firmware recovery mode. That is probably the root cause of your problems.
Or you mede8er is just at a wrong HDMI setting. Try pressing TV Sys on remote for example 4x and then wait for 10 secs to get picture.

And it is advised to read the Mede8er Beginners Guide first in the Tips section. For the best Mede8er experience you need to know the basics there described.....

Maasbommel

Just pull the power plug first.
Then when it is off, place your usb key with the FW on it.
Then plug power in again and press the power on button and keep it pressed for 10 secs, then release the button.
The mede8er will start the emergency recovery mode, wait until that is finish.

Is there a led indication on your usb stick that gives activity indication (flashing when something is read from it)?
Do you see if it starts flashing?

Just try to re-download the firmware here from the site.
Reformat your usb stick, use fat32 format on it.

Then put the install.img file on the stick.

Put stick on the mede8er, try lower port.
Unplug power.
Replug power.
Then press power button for 10 secs and release.
It should start updating the FW.
Just wait, maybe you just get no output on screen, but it is updating. Just check if the led on your usb sitck is flashing as an indication of this. (hope it has an activity led)

How is your mede8er connected to your TV, by HDMI or analog cables?
Do you get some other error messages, or only seeing the mede8er logo and then nothing?

Have you tried to:

redownload firmware, reformat usb stick with fat32 format, and then try again?
And don't attach anything else to the usb ports.

If that is not helping, then I guess you bricked it somehow. Normally FW recovery mode should work.
Only thing you can do is go back to your reseller and get it repeared or exchanged under warranty.

You can find 1.22a firmware here:
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php?topic=304.0

Be sure to unpack rar or zip file first. And place the img file in the root of the stick.

Kingston USB i made Full format and i put 2 files only, install_img and logo, and Iomega i have a lot of files there, and i put also 2 files same as Kingston. I put Iomega in 1st USB (top), and Kingston in 2nd USB. Owh.... i am happy...  And working properly...for update 1.22a    Cheesy

Hi Winston,

Smiley Great, you made my day good again. Good to hear your problems are solved.
Reading your description my guess is that your Kingston usb stick gave you the trouble.
So next time use the Iomega to update if there is a new firmware released.

And please read my Mede8er Beginners Guide to get known to your mede8er and even enjoy it more.

Please take care that when you get instability on 2.0.2, just downgrade to 1.2.2a version.
2.0.2 can give instability if no internal disk is used, see the release notes.
There is a new firmware version underway that should solve this for those having problems with 2.0.2....
Expected within a few weeks if al testing is going well.

Cheers,
Maasbommel

PS. Don't bother your English, as long we can understand it, it is just good enough.  Wink
