We don't want too many people having  access to  the dev area.  On occasions specific problems need testing by a handful of volunteers. So those versions do  get posted in the beta  area because we don't want them having access to  the dev area.

Wasn't it clear? Those who need to  test specific issue are not always beta testers, but they  are not going to  be allowed access to  the more private dev area.   So  versions for them are put into  the beta section, and then  they  become beta testers. There is no point everyone downloading versions just to  test dutch menu options.

not really .. there is a lot of "things" which is not really clear..

We cant help it if people experiment with file names  until  they  find something which  downloads....and then tell people about them. If they  didn't you  would not be confused....as you  would only download those with forum announcements.
