M8R, just popped in to say thanks much for the continued great support of this player. My 2 M8R X6003D's remain my dedicated home theater boxes even since I got them soon after their release .
This is even after finding some promising new boxes recently... but they all have shortcomings: VidOn Box (Plusses are just $69, XBMC, full 3D, HD audio and Android apps; minusses are HDMI/AVR issues and bad remote) and Chromebox w/OpenELEC (XBMC, proper framerates, hd audio, but sadly no full 3D).
M8R, are you guys looking into RTD's 1195 chip? For whatever next box you hits do, would be great to have everything we now do with X3D, but with XBMC as the media hub.
If you have links to the issues you have stated please post them.
Some new companies are thinking its easy to order cheap hardware and just dump off the shelf software on it, expecting someone else like the chip maker will sort out the bugs for free. The reality is not like that. Each OEM has to spend manhours..I.e money, identifying the issues that need fixing, and then pushing the chip maker to fix it. That requires cash flow, cash flow these new companies don't have, and cash flow you can't generate at such low prices.
Its too simp!istic to think that if you reduce your price then increased sales will generate the cash flow, because all you competitors are thinking the same, so no one does generate the cash flow needed to mature the product.
At some point the market implodes, many suppliers vanish and prices can rise to those needed to make a quality product by those companies left to pick up the pieces.
