What happens with deleted files on die MED250X
« on: August 25, 2014, 06:05:05 PM »
I deleted a movie on my MED250X, I would like to know what happens to it after I deleted it, does it stay on the Mede8er or where does it go, Since there is no recycle bin on the Mede8er,

If you dont have a backup of that movie, only thing you can do is don't copy anything to it. It then might still be on the disk, otherwise you will overwrite it.
Connect it to a pc by usb cable and run some recovery software on the disk to see if you can recover it.

Your answer has no relevance to my question.  I presume that you have misinterpreted what i am asking. I suggest that you read it again.

There is no recycle bin feature on the mede8er file manager.  Deleted means marked removed from file system.

Space of the file will be marked free and overwritten on future write action

Is this the answer you are looking for?

I understand if you delete a file it is gone. But when for instance you delete a file on a PC the file goes to the recycle bin and then you must remove items from your recycle bin then only you the file is gone forever. But since the mede8er has no recycle bin where does the files go to, it just cant disappear into thin air. I will do a test to see if the space is more on my 2TB hard drive when the file is deleted.

Recycle bin is a windows  feature which you can turn on and off. Mede8er has no such feature. Deleted means space is added to free space.

Thank you that is what I wanted to know, but I will still do a test to see if the space does increase on my 2TB.

Good day, I did my test to see what happens when I delete my movies from my external hard drive directly from the Mede8er, The movies does disappear and the space on the hard drive increases. After deleting the movies I plugged my hard drive into my pc  to make sure they  are definitely deleted.  And yes the space is free and my movies deleted.  :) :) :) :) :)

The way you came in on the first answer to help you, was not really stimulating lets say -  I suggest that you read above thread again to understand my reaction.

Being a bit more friendly would for sure invite more people to give a helping hand.

Just a friendly advise for future posts.

Cheers.

Similar?  Most people post "problem" posts, not "curiosity" posts.  Most people reading will assume there is an underlying problem  that the poster wants resolving...in  this  case "how do  I get deleted videos back?".

Will the mede8er have more functionality running from an internal drive rather than from an USB connected drive? Mr Maasbommel Sorry if it came across that I was not friendly at first, You just did not answer my question correctly. I did not ask anything about a backup about movies only what happens to deleted movies because there is no recycle bin on the mede8er. I did read my manual and it says nothing about a recycle bin or that the movies is gone permanently. But your second answer was more appropriate and i did do my test for myself not for you and also to help other people with the same concern. And no if you deleted movies you cannot get them back from the mede8ter. Of my experience on anything you do from pc work to anything else you make backups before deleting videos.  An I repeat again not everybody knows everything and that is me included. Then you get the people that think they know everything.
