Mede8er 600 won't play some mp4 movies
« on: July 21, 2014, 02:58:36 PM »
All my movies are in mp4 and AAC audio-codec.  Never a problem until recently
Since this week I have a few movies which can not be played. (wrong file format- onjuiste bestandsindeling)
Is it a bug, or wrong codec?
Please help:

EDIT: I've uploaded an example through ftp

Having made the sample did you  test it? It plays on  my x3d. Putting video  through an  editor can  often fix up  the problems in  a file.

No succes. This is what I tried with the movies that are giving problems now:
1st: Downloaded the original mp4 movie. Won't play on the 600x3d. Can play on computer, ipad etc.
2nd: Converted the movie with Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate (I'm on a Mac) to mp4 again. leaving all video (H.264) and audio (AAC) settings to standard. (this is what I always do, also when I convert mkv to mp4, never had problems before). Movies that already caused problems won't play on 600x3d.

The strange thing now is that since a few weeks some movies won't play on my 600x3d. (all movies are on a network share). I have tried everything, converted movies again and tried to convert with and without adding meta-data (for this on my Mac I'm using MetaZ). It looks as if some movies have some code or setting that stays in the movie even when it is converted again.
Any idea?

the sample plays on my 1000x3d using nfs.  Are you streaming using upnp?  It could be filtered out by mime.

What firmware are you using?

I'm using smb. My iomega iconnect does not support nfs
My 600x3d has the latest firmware (beta)
Thanks

OK. After a week playing etc. I've made some progress, but it is a weird situation:
Some of my mp4-movies (all stored on my NAS Harddrive) won't play on mij 600X3D. This only happens when these movies are played thru the Movie-Jukebox (Favorites). Movies can't be played due to 'wrong movie format'. As mentioned in my previous posts, this only affects a few movies.

However if I lookup these movies thru the Media Library and browse to the map on my NAS and then select the movies these movies can be played, also with subtitle on the NAS.

Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong?

Suggestions are welcome

Thanks

I've been having the same issue and as you said, when played outside of Favourites all is well. However, it happens to my movies on a local HDD, not only on the network. I'm currently using firmware version 3.0.6.

I also have a mp4 movie problem and can somebody tell me what i should do? Recently I downloaded an MP4 movie from an online video site but my player cannot open it. Then i installed this video repairing tool to repair mp4 file, as you can see http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/repair-mp4-file.html. I converted the video into AVI then it could be played again. But I have know idea why the video quality got worse. It was just like changing from 720p to 480p, but i didn't change the resolution in the parameter setting.

That is not fixing, it's converting. It's a spam post aimed at getting you to buy software.
