I didn't say I don't understand the value of watching a movie preview.  You have it on your NAS and can watch any preview of it you want.  Fast forward as needed.  The movie is already there.

It isn't like Netflix where you don't have the movie to sample.

You don't need to go out and grab a movie preview from any place.  You have it already.

You still have to stream the youtube clip as well.   Why not have the movie preview function grab a sample off your media storage source?  Stream it locally.

Because a trailer gives you the gist of the movie and it's already a compilation of clips to give you that info.  Trying to fast forward through a movie and knowing where to stop and play a given clip that will give you the same info would be a major PITA in my opinion.

The answer is simple, when dowloading these automatically there are legal constraints in some countries.

Sanji are responding to a long standing feature request, only made possible recently because youtube migrated to html5. As with any request, some will think it pointless. That is their right. No one is saying every user should find value in every feature the player has.

No, your movie scraper issue has nothing todo with this new feature.
As suggested, make another new post and tell a bit more about your problem, and which movies exactly don't scrape.
All is working again now.

I was not using the latest firmware.
Did not know there were changed made what would cause this problem to the Jukebox functionality.

Huh?

Its illegal in some countries to view media files you have archived on your media server network?

Great but we can have a movie trailer feature and not have to mess with youtube, internet connections, etc.  The movie trailer feature can use our archived media files as the source.  Simpler and fewer variables to contend with.

Just because something can be done does not make it worthwhile.  Adding Youtube movie trailers is unnecessary if all one is attempting to do is create a movie preview function.

I'm not going to get all excited about a feature that overly complicates what could have been accomplished simply.

How would you accomplish this simply with your media file?  The Mede8er would have to be able jump to predetermined points in a movie seamlessly so it would have to have that data for every movie available.  Even if that were feasible, which I don't think it is, you have to remember that some people back up the entire disc and some people back up only the main movie which adds another layer of complication.

Now if you could download the trailer to your server and have it reference that then I can see that as a definite plus, especially for future when links change and Mede8er finally decides to stop supporting these players.

But just grabbing some random part of a movie is not the same as a movie trailer. The requests that people have made have been specifically for movie trailers. Whilst I can't say that this feature particularly excites me I think it is better implemented as is currently proposed OR by being able to add links to downloaded trailers than just playing an arbitrary part of a movie.

What your  suggesting is not what was asked for.

If you want to input  into a feature request you should read them, and add your thoughts. You don't use jukebox or abouts. So you can use preview view to do what you suggest, see the actual stored movie.

You are right about that. About jsmiddleton4's addition... why would you have to build an extra function what would create a preview function? This would cost more time to build and would be more expensive. Movie trailers are availble on youtube for every movie what is released. After all... imdb, tmdb and for example moviemeter have almost always got an movie trailer link in their content what could be scraped.

I'm excited to see the new movie trailer function  ;D ;D

You are not making any sense...

How would the mede8er be able to create trailers from the stored movies?

You do know the concept of a trailer, right?

Any suggestions to expand this feature should be posted as new Feature Requests.  The feature will remain as requested for this is not the time to add changes.

Sorry but just not getting it.  The movie is already on my archive to watch.   One click and I can watch any preview I wish.  Why would I want to go to Youtube to watch a preview of a movie I already have archived on my media server storage?

My thoughts as well.
