mede8er 250 does not read 2TB portable hard drive

I have two Mede8er250 units (without internal HD). Just bought a 2TB Seagate portable hard drive and tried to connect it to the usb port of the Mede8er. On both machines the searching wheel keeps turning but it does not connect (read/recognize?) the portable hard drive. The hard drive is formatted to MS-DOS (Fat 32)
When I connect a 2TB hard drive with its own power supply, the Mede8er(s) works fine.

Any advice is welcome.

Probably not getting enough power by usb cable. Does that disk have a split usb cable with 2 connectors on it?

No, the disk has a normal single lead cable,> It plugs into the HD with the typical connector as one finds on almost all HD's and in plugs into the the MED unit with a standard USB plug.

If you search the forum you will see more of this issues with bigger disk only powered by usb cable.
You will probably need more power.
I suggest to try a powered usb hub in between.
