Hello,

I have an 500x with a 2 TB harddrive. I have the latest upgrade.

Today I had to open up the mede8er to clean out some dust .

After that I connected the mede8er and tried to start it up again. And that is where it goes wrong. The only thing that happens is that the power led keeps blinking.

Who can tell me what is wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Did you remove wires in your cleaning action?
Check if all cables are still mounted firmly and correct.

Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

The cleaning action was done because of the noise the fan made.

While in blinking mode I did not hear the fan so I thought it was ok.......... (Except for the blinking part for which I posted in this forum.)

When I went backto my 500x  smoke was emerging from the mede8er!

I think it has died on me.....

But to answer your question: before I closed the lid I checked all the wires.

Clean...like blow with a can of compressed air cleaner?  Or something involving physical contact?

Reading your message regarding smoke and only blinking, you must be right and you have some hardware defect....

You might consider to start looking for a replacement unit I am afraid...

Mmmmmmm. Then I hope this is covered by the 5 year warranty. Since it is only from 2010.

I suggest you contact Mede8er Europe and raise a RMA to get your problem fixed.
http://www.mede8er.eu/en/index.php?d=contact

Did you register in the past to extend your warranty from 2 to 5 years?
Then that should not be a problem.

Unfortunately I did register to this forum, but somehow not for the guarantee?

So now I have the choice to either send the mede8er in and get an estimate for the repairs or buy a new one.

I am a bit dissapointed by this but apparently I missed the registry part in the manual  Sad

Thanks for the answers!
